I was thinking about purchasing an E Collar in the future as another tool for training. Which E collars do you guys/ladies use or recommend?

I have two tritronics pro 500 collars. Love the flexibility on the controls and I've used them on everything from Jack Russell terrier to saint Bernard s

E Collar is for my wife and children. Should come in handy....haha....
ive been looking at the Tri-Tronics collars, Dogtra, and Einstein/ E Collar Technologies. Looks like Tri-Tronics is owned by Garmin now.
I'm thinking the E-Collar will help me a lot on recall work.
Amyone have any good reads or links on "E Collars for dummies" that would benefit me? I won't use one until I'm 100% confident on proper use and techniques. I don't want to strap it on and start zapping him...haha....

Dogtra makes some very good collars, if you want to spend more and get much better, Martin Systems in Europe produces outstanding E collars and there is the chameleon too out there now as well.
You wont learn how to use one through a book or a forum, you need actual hands on experience, depending on hpw much you will use it.

I am a big fan of the Educator (Formally Einstein) Dual ET-400 This collar allows me to fit the collar a little looser and allows for the dogs neck to swell under bite work without having the collar interfere with breathing. I also like the the smooth curve adjustability, there are no "spikes" in stim levels. Plus the remote fits very nicely in my hand and with the 'locking' stim adjuster i never have to worry about bumping up/down levels by mistake. Other people i train with turned me onto Educators products as they have switched from Tri-Tronics and Dogtra sighting the smoother adjustment curve and small size of the receivers as the biggest reasons.

Cutaway,
On the collar your talking about, does the transmitter have an easy way to adjust the levels or do I have to look at it to adjust.
My tritronics has three levels available by just pushing certain buttons and If i have to go up or down a level I just turn the knob and I can feel the clicks as it goes up or down one level. I never have to look at it, it's all done by feel so I can pay attention to my dog.
Is the controller similar? I think it's an interesting collar if the controls can be adjusted easily enough on the fly. (I'm always looking for better equipment or ways to do things).

I have used the tri tronics pro 100 and liked it, but now use the pro 500 and like it more. Find someone experienced in the use of e collars when you are ready to start.

@bzcz - The one downside of the collar is that the adjuster does not have a tactile feedback, therefore you do have to look at the display. However, there are two buttons on the remote, a black and a red, the black will deliver the select stim level while the red will deliver a higher 'adjustable/pre-set level'. by default the red delivers a +10 higher then the black stim, but you can adjust that + level. Another great feature is you can also set the buttons stum type differently. I like to keep both buttons stim level the same and use the BLACK in momentary mode and the red in CONSTANT mode.
Lastly, IMO, it is important to know that i rarely use my collar since my skills with it are not at a level i am comfortable with. I am noting this so its clear and that you know i am talking out of my pants .... There are times when using it that i will stick one of the receivers on my leg just so that i am more cognoscente of WHEN & WHY i am using it, and it keeps me reminded that it is NOT a "bigger" stick for punishment.
