Can you give a female heart guard in the late stages of pregnancy?

by Bob-O on 09 February 2007 - 15:02
I have continued using Heartguard through a female's pregnancy and nursing stages with no ill results. The product's literature states that it is safe, and that it has been extensively tested.

My vet says there is no problem with using HeartGard or Interceptor during pregnancy. Just for your info.

I don't know about Heartguard but Interceptor is supposed to be safe - what I use for pregnant females.

I don't use HeartGard or Interceptor but I have used Ivomec for many years and this includes on my pregnant females...and have never had a problem...but I did inquire about it with my vet before doing so...

I do, Heartguard Plus...
Never had a problem.
Incidentally, its been years since I have found a dead round worm in stool after worming my pups.
Keep the bitch worm free = few or none crossing through the placenta into the puppies, and a bitch in better condition throughout pregnancy, parturition and nursing, and a faster come-back after weaning.
Worms suck.
(Get it? Worms? Suck?)
