Can you give a female heart guard in the late stages of pregnancy?

I have continued using Heartguard through a female's pregnancy and nursing stages with no ill results. The product's literature states that it is safe, and that it has been extensively tested. Bob-O

My vet says there is no problem with using HeartGard or Interceptor during pregnancy. Just for your info.

I don't know about Heartguard but Interceptor is supposed to be safe - what I use for pregnant females. molly

I don't use HeartGard or Interceptor but I have used Ivomec for many years and this includes on my pregnant females...and have never had a problem...but I did inquire about it with my vet before doing so...

I do, Heartguard Plus... Never had a problem. Incidentally, its been years since I have found a dead round worm in stool after worming my pups. Keep the bitch worm free = few or none crossing through the placenta into the puppies, and a bitch in better condition throughout pregnancy, parturition and nursing, and a faster come-back after weaning. Worms suck. (Get it? Worms? Suck?) :-/
