I have had my 11 wk old puppy for 2 weeks now. Im obviously doing something wrong with housebreaking. I take him out, not leashed but loose in the yard (fenced) to potty. He will usually go pee right away and then run and sniff a while and poo in the flowerbeds (we dont tell hubby lol). My problem is that I bring him inside and within 15 minutes he will either pee or poo inside again. He never whines like he has to go, and really dosent sniff around. Just squats! I dont smack, rub nose in it but I do tell him no and then put him back outside for a while (while I clean it up). What else can I do? He just dosent get it - nor do I obviously. Thanks, Kim

Hi Kim , well i have a 17-week puppy, and i crate train him hes on a tight shecdcle he eats at 7:am then 20 mintues after feeding ill take him out side and keep saying potty here point at the spot keep him on a leash at all times and keep saying potty he will get it it takes time wait at least 30 mintues out there walk him out there on a leash keep telling him potty. they are smart dogs. just be patient but use a crate training it s good. they know after awhile eats when i come out of crate, then potty walk play.. keep a tight shedule feeding . same time everyday... good luck patient.....

Im crate training also, he stays in it during the night and when we are not home. I feed the same times every day and pick up all food and water by 7pm. Its just he is so sneaky about it. He knows he is doing wrong, but I just dont seem to be able to stop it. Do you keep him in the crate all of the time unless your playing with him? I dont do that, just put him in there when we arent in the house or at night. Maybe thats what I am doing wrong.

If he has held it for some time he will have to go more than once. My dogs do this every morning after holding it all night. You might try bring him back in and then taking him back out again after 5-10 for another potty session. Make a routine once you get it figured out. Maybe come in after potty, get a bite to eat and a drink and then straight back out for the rest.
