These are films taken of a 2 year old male GSD.  Sedation was not used, hence the poor positioning.  Can I please get some solid opinions.  I am looking to purchase this dog, and would appreciate some assistance.  Thank you!!!!!

no way to tell, the positioning is horrible.

Best guess both hips and elbows are normal, but frankly I wouldn't buy him unless I could see a better hip xray with him sedated to the point of relaxation. Buying him without a better xray is taking a small risk I think, but it's still a risk nonetheless.

As it looks now, the left femur head is smaller than the right in Diameter.  More than likely a positioning problem, but also makes it too hard to judge the hip joint.

I was afraid you were all going to say that.

I agree with bzcz...

I use only one vet in three counties here by me, who knows what a good OFA Xray is suppose to be...YOU might want to find a vet who does the sports people in your area or is known for Xrays..

Whew, that positioning is bad. Makes that one hip look a lot worse than it should. But based on this, I wouldn't buy the dog. I'd sedate the dog and get new positioning and better x rays for reading.

Even though positioning is not good the hips themselves are well seated in the sockets and will probably get a good;  however a possible fair.  Cannot tell on elbows at all.  Nan

Thanks gang.  I appreciate your feedback.  The seller is going to contact the vet to get the x-rays retaken.  I would love to add this guy to my pack, but of course I want to ensure he is healthy.

Have a great Friday!!!!

I'm guessing he's going to be a good, don't know too much about elbows, don't see any signs of UAP. The appearance of one head being smaller than the other is probably an artifact due to the positioning. The head farest from the source of the radiograph is always smaller. I hope they will sedate him this time. Good luck.....
