I am glad had a happy ending.... am I the only parent that never let my sons out alone at that age? My oldest was that age before I did search and rescue and he was never allowed out unsupervised that young. After doing sar my second would never have been allowed either... lol but as a kid I was left to do it and I barely made it out of childhood though, you would have thought after a couple ambulance rides later my parents would have supervised more :) Don't leave your kids alone to run the woods or with their nutty horse, always ride in pairs or have someone watching out for your return at least. My eldest used to tell me I was over protective, then one day while he was sixteen something happened to a friend of his and he came to me aand thanked me, told me he understood it now. My sons are the gift of my life and I guess I wanted to make sure they stayed around till they knew the world well enough to let them go with all I taught them.
