Anyone in Meade or Hardin county, Kentucky missing their German Shepherd Dog? Or if you are a GSD breeder, do you recognize this dog as one you have sold to someone in Kentucky and if so please contact me with info on how to find his owner. My mother found the him out chasing cars and got him before the dog got hit by one. Message me to claim the dog.
However the dog is underweight and most likely needs to see a vet as soon as possible. He was not wearing any sort of collar either but he has a slight ring from having worn one a long time around his neck. The red collar in the photos is one of Sam old collars and it fits perfectly in the ring around his neck so he has worn a similar collar not too long ago.
He is current being kept in a kennel in our backyard and does not like being kenneled so we are worried he will find a way out of it so the sooner we find his owner the better. He is super friendly and seems be very upset at being away from his owner as he refuses to eat so we are also worried he is trying to starve himself out of grief. He looks alot like my own light red and black sable saddleback Sam who is from working and show lines. He is also rather tall as he is taller than Sam who is 26.5 inches at the shoulder. So around 27 inches in height and he looks to around the same age as Sam so maybe 4 or 5 years old. He is all gray under his chin and a bit of gray dusting his muzzle like my boy Sam does.

Hope you find this boy's owner. Take it that you have had him
checked for a chip, looked for a tattoo, etc ? Best of luck,
good on ya for taking him in and not letting the traffic get him.

No chip or tattoo on him. I have a strong feeling he was dumped. He was found right outside the border of Fort Knox just like another elderly German Shepherd we found last year that had been dumped by his family. We cound't get near it as it was too aggressive and would bite so we had to call the MPs from Fort Knox to pick it up and take to their shelter. With how old he was I doubt they kept him alive which just really makes me hate whoever his former owner was. It's really sad but many army families would rather dump their animals then try and find them a home or take them to a rescue. In fact Fort Knox has a bigger animal shelter that they built just for that reason.
And something else I found out that outrages me is that a man my mother knows who works at the local Tractor Supply Store we shop at for our dogs was in the army and had to move and he also had a dog and had to spend $2,000 to ship him. And it's been several years and even though he paid them to ship his dog he has never gotten said dog. So I guess with stories like that people feel it easier just to dump the animal then do anything else with it. I have 2 purebred GSDs and 1 GSD/Husky mix and it's rather costly to have 3 large dogs let alone 4. But I've already gotten attached to him (That's how I ended up with my mutt Daisy in the first place after I rescued her.) and I doubt he will be claimed so now I'm trying to find a name to call him by. Nothing with an S as I have named both my GSDs and 2 of my cats with S names. No clue how that happened either. LOL
