I am not surprised, that there are no survivors. Simply because none of the passengers used their cell phones to call any loved ones, would point to such an end. I do wonder though, about how much of an intentional act this disappearing flight will prove to be. Speculation is just that, but still, it is hard not to form some thoughts on this horrific event.

First, a grim-faced Malaysian Prime Minister confirmed their worst fears, announcing Flight 370 went down somewhere in the Indian Ocean.

I think the passengers must have been unawares up to the time of the actual crashing. Whether they were being told lies from the cockpit to allay fears of a deliberate deadly act being planned, we will need those black boxes to determine that.
