I am not surprised, that there are no survivors. Simply because none of the passengers used their cell phones to call any loved ones, would point to such an end. I do wonder though, about how much of an intentional act this disappearing flight will prove to be. Speculation is just that, but still, it is hard not to form some thoughts on this horrific event.

First, a grim-faced Malaysian Prime Minister confirmed their worst fears, announcing Flight 370 went down somewhere in the Indian Ocean.

When the planes were hijacked during 9-11, passengers realized something was wrong, and used cell phones to contact loved ones, or call the authorities. Why didn't this happen with this plane? Were they out of range of cell service? Did they not realize something was wrong until too late? Assuming they were hijacked, did the hijackers go around collecting everyone's phones?

Guess we will never know.... :(

I think hijackers collecting phones is very unlikely. Too many people to rob, and they would not be able to do such a collection all at once.

I think the passengers must have been unawares up to the time of the actual crashing. Whether they were being told lies from the cockpit to allay fears of a deliberate deadly act being planned, we will need those black boxes to determine that.

Several experts have been interviewed about the  Cell phone quesiton and most said plane was too far out of Cell phone range of any tower or hook up  to  cell receptions, to do  any contacting. BUT maybe did not have time to text which sometimes will reach out..IT is surely still a mystery
