This is not a good thing. The lack of participation of such an important sector of the population will make Obamacare success, pretty much a doomed thing.

... Hispanics account for about one-third of the nation's uninsured, but they seem to be staying on the sidelines as the White House races to meet a goal of 6 million sign-ups by March 31.

... Hispanics who remain uninsured could face fines, not to mention exposing their families to high medical bills from accidents or unforeseen illness. And the government won't get the full advantage of a group that's largely young and healthy, helping keep premiums low in the new insurance markets.

I don't know where they are today. But yesterday They were in front of me at Harbor Freight trying to cash a check with no ID. Holding up the whole line. LOL

It really would be nice to snap your fingers and address all of the world's problems. Unfortunately, it's fairly ignorant and simplistic to think such an approach is possible. If there is one area that I wish I had more expertise, it would be economics, of which I have only introductory exposure. I know enough to understand that this abortion called Obamacare isn't going to be good for anyone when it's all said and done, and that forgetting the illegality of it all.

Just like Medicare, lmao.

by beetree on 25 March 2014 - 15:03

It is not just like Medicare. I wouldn't be laughing, just yet. I just checked it out, since I am not anywhere near the age to be eligible for Medicare! Omg Smile

The difference is Medicare is tied into Social Security. Obamacare is tied into the IRS.

The point being?

Does this sound familiar?

or this?

I keep waiting for these long lines at hospitals and doctor offices. I keep waiting for all these doctors to quit and walk away from medicine.

The sky is falling.

There are distinctions that should be clarified, I think. I wouldn't be so quick to blurr the lines between Medicare and Obamacare. I think they should be noted. I can see however your point, that the fear of "socialization of medicine" theme started with Medicare. And that the fear is based on a reduction of service quality.

One has a choice to participate in Medicare, not like Obamacare. I did see that there are situations where failure to respond by accepting or denying Medicare coverage will result in a penalty. That penalty is reflected in the actual cost portion for paying into the medical plan.

What Obamacare is doing, is making it a penalty through the individual Income tax if one chooses not to belong to any medical plan; it is mandatory to belong to a plan, or your income will become affected! If one chooses not to join medicare for whatever reason, their income is not threatened by a penalty, at all. There plan cost is affected, something they have been contributing to if they work and are law abiding with the rules.

Those are just the distinctions. The real problem is that it is going to become an enforced ponzi scheme. The benefits of which will never be realized in any way, shape, or form as promised in the selling of this program to Americans. If the base of the pyramid, in this case the Latino's, are not present at the start, the low cost benefits will never, and can never become the reality.

And that is the problem, and why it is not a good thing the healthy Latino's are not signing up.

What is the penalty $290.00 for a family of 4?

I still say I would rather see this than people with no hope to have insurance. At least there is hope.

Hasn't it already lowered premiums?

Whether or not you "would like" to see it, does not make it legal, nor should that opinion be forced upon anyone else. Maybe you should start a medicare thread so we can discuss confiscatory taxation, the definition of "public funds", or the impact of medicare on the healthcare system. This thread is actually about Obamacare.

I don't like auto insurance, home insurance or flood insurance so I shouldn't have to pay for these illegal things.

Please don't tell me what i can post or where I can post something. LMFAO.
