"The breeder, who sold the puppy to a property developer, is reported to have told the paper that the mastiff had "lion's blood," and that a similar dog had sold for 6 million yuan.."
Now, remember this thread? http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/forum.read?mnr=734745-to-excesses
And what I said about the dogs?
So, anyone who wants to REALLY make money on GSDs should start breeding oversized, blocky-headed, short-snouted dogs, and selling them to China! What is happening here has a definite cultural component. Dogs like the Pekingese and other dogs with short snouts that have originated in China such as the Shih-tzu, have been bred to resemble the Chinese lion, which has great cultural significance: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070406153502AAeWW87
See also 'foo dog' for list of breeds bred to resemble lions:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foo_Dog The name for the Shih tzu actually MEANS 'lion dog'! (Shizi Gou,)
It is obvious that breeders are trying to make the German shepherd into another 'lion' dog. It may not be correct, but it has cultural appeal to Chinese buyers.

I can't believe people could REALLY be persuaded these dogs had 'lion's blood'!

It proves the American GSDs could be bred for more masculine heads if breeders really made an effort!

I notice the right rear leg , in the stack ZZZZZ?
Is that a fault or normal? Walking or standing on hock?
JMO
I have my opinion just wanted to know what others would say about standing on the hock and not on the foot?

Is that what is called a weak Pastern> since I am not a show line person and never went to a show I just know what my mentors told me including Jane steffenhagen along with others .
I never produced a pup that walked on whole hock but my male who has Fair hips tends to slant a bit more when he walks but not on whole hock..
