Hi guys, any suggestions on the below - never had this issue before.

I am working with the dog to get her to bark (speak) on command. I have tried the most common ways, holding a loved food out of reach but i can stand there litterally 20 minutes and she just sits looking at me. I have tried really building frustration having her on her harness tied up and egging her on swinging the flirt pole she gets agitated but no noise at all. Again this can go on a long time before finally she just tires and/or gives up.

Any advice?

thanks in advance guys.

Tie her up or put her in a kennel/crate, then work with other dogs, play and have fun with them, all while she is watching...the FIRST time she emits even the teeniest of sounds, you stop everything and praise the hell out of this dog, let her out, reward her with whatever makes her the happiest.
Do this 2 times in one session and try again the next day. This method worked for a female Malinois when nothing else did it.

Okay, this may sound silly, but I most often am able to get my dogs to bark by barking and whining at them, while acting really excited... Red Smile

That is a funny vision.  I can see your dog now looking at you like you are nuts and she is embarressed to be seen with you.   Teeth Smile

good luck

Does this dog bark at all?
For almost every dog there are situations in daily life when they feel the need to bark.
Try to find this trigger.

put dog behind fence and tease reward for bark, never seen a dog it doesn't work on. how old is dog, might be a very polite dog.

I taught my dog to speak on command by playing with her with balloons... lol. Really rev-ed her up, got her chasing and popping them, and then I held it back and wouldn't let her have it, but played with it by myself, and gave her the command every now and again, and as soon as she barked it was game on again. Worked fast after the first couple of times!

My dog for some reason really, really hate kitchen tongs, and will bark if i click them together. Maybe you just need a bigger "Clicker"
