I got a decent stacked picture of Ice today on his 1 year old birthday.

I would love to hear conformation critiques on him. I posted the 2nd frontal picture to show his head and ear set.

ignore this i just do it for fun, i have no clue;
nice ear set and pigment, light/medium bone, well balanced athletic build, lacks angulation front and back for modern conformation judging, head is blocky from front and appears to have to strong a stop (but it looks good), back line is all up and down-ish or something?, stands upright on legs implies athletic mover, might lack a bit of depth for modern judging.
i like him, bet he is fun?

In general I agree with vk4gsd but I will frame it im my own words
Well balanced bicolor male GSD of good proportions but slightly long back. Good head, good neck, good high withers, level back, slightly long loin, good croup length but slightly steep, good tail and tailset, lacks in hind angulation, good hocks and feet. Nice underline, stand straight on fore legs, good pasterns, lacks in front chest development, good length of front upper arm but slightly steep, good lay of shoulder blade. A nice athletic boy.

Thanks for the critique on him. I do agree that he is short in the croup and a somewhat straight in the shoulder. His back has straightened out as he has matured some. He is only a year old, so he has alot of maturing to do.
I personally feel that he is medium/heavy boned.
He is a very solid built dog, has always been very well muscled. I keep him lean, he is 74 pounds. I do not like a huge dog. If Ice stays in the low to mid 80s I will be very happy. My plan is to title him in IPO and maybe do some AKC OB with him.

Just a side note here, his croup is not short at all. It is slightly steep though. When evaluating a steep croup one wrongly gets the impression it is short, that is why experienced judges look at thigh width to help determine true croup length.
Croup length is also not a certain set length, it should be looked at as proportional to total back length. What is a good long croup on one dog might be slightly short on another.
Standing alone, your dog's croup length is excellent, related to his back length it goes down to "normal"/good. It, being slightly steep, gives a wrong impression that it is short. To visualize what I'm saying imagine his croup a bit flatenned and you can see its true length.

Nice dog! I would not call him "light boned" though, at least medium!

Jyl, I like him, that is the structure I breed for. I think he has very nice bone and I would be very pleased if he were mine.
Your dog is what I call, a correct German Shepherd.
