JUST got back from the vet (it was hell carrying an 80lb Rottie LOL) and these are my 12 month old Rottweiler bitch's hips and elbows that were taken today to be sent to OFA.

Vet (Dr. Wilson) said that hips look "Good" and elbows look "Normal". Soooo, what's the board's opinions?

Thank you!

Nice x-ray by the way;  I think they look good also.  Would love to see the hips seated into the sockets just a little bit better but I hope you get a good.  Why are you sending them to OFA at 12 months??  Just curious as they won't certify until 24 months unless something has changed Iam not aware of.  Best of luck  Nan

Thanks Nan!

I wanted to do preliminary ratings (which OFA will do at 12 months) because she was walking/running/gating just...off. Funny, if you will. I suspected issues, which with her being my Service Animal, I wanted to be aware of what I might face in the future.

Being as Rotties have HUGE issues with Elbows, do you think they look okay? Vet said he didn't see anything to give any evidence they wouldn't get a prelim rating of Normal.

She's such a wonderful, wonderful dog. They mildly sedated her, but everyone back there said she was just the sweetest thing before they put her under. Said she was a total love bug (I hear it all the time) and they were able to use a little less sedation with her because she was so calm.

I'd even be happy with a Fair and Normal, just so long as I know she'll be able to do what I need her to. :)

Thanks Nan!

I am not very good at elbows, seems they are flexed pretty tight to me but good quality x-ray.  What do you mean that her gait is off?  She is pretty young yet, may have a little pano, if you find her looking tender when she is gaiting then take that as and "YES" she is somewhat sore.  It too will pass.  Love the Rotti's have had 2 for service dogs a few years ago;  really loved them as they were somewhat intimidating which I like.  female was german background;  male was AM bred background.  Loved them though, awesome dogs,  seems if they are good they are REALLY good and if they are bad they are really bad.

In So. CAL we have some aggressive dog issues and  have put Rotti's in that category so access can be stiff and tuff.    Still love them though.  Good luck  Nan

When I picked her up (she was about 5 months old at the time) she kinda bunny hopped and her back legs criss crossed when she'd run, so I was concerned. After some exercise and limited crating, she runs "normal" for a lanky, year old Rottie. :)

Lookin' good! :-)

You've got to be so relieved.

I think you made the elbows fuzzy when yo blew up the pic. They look good. Whew!

Jenni, you have no idea! I cried! Lmao I did say I wasn't paying for anything til I saw the xrays. I believe they are decent quality so paid without balking ;)

Yeah I tried to enlarge and it screwed up clarity. :(

Very nice hips and elbows,I would expect excellent for hips and normal for elbows.Just a little note to elbows x-ray - the angle should be 45 degrees.

Thanks everyone! What is turn around time with OFA (sent a check) looking like these days? Last time I sent xrays it took almost two months to hear anything.

Thanks again, I appreciate the help!
