One of my dogs is shedding bad. The handler refuses to put her out side (my suggestion) I need opinions, and experence on what works best. I always used a slicker and he says very little help.

Vacuum, shedding blade for horses, hack saw blade (take off the frame, hold by ends and draw over dog's body in the direction of hair )

Openning up your own pillow factory?

Seriously, good luck.  I have three that are shedding horribly right now.  Doesn't help they are all inside due to weather.

Good quality vacuum cleaner, used both on the dog, and on the floor,
daily.

Get a 'shedding rake', the sort originally from Germany but now available
from most dog-stuff manufacturers,  ie  fixed metal toothed blade, cross-
wise handle.  (I too use a Slicker, but only to 'finish' the coat).

OR take the advice of the non-houseproud, and live with it !

Paul try this,
Order Best Shot Shampoo, conditioner and finishing spray. Bath dog in best shot shampoo, rinse really good. Water down about an oz of conditioner in a bottle and use it as a drench to help loose the dead coat and allow it to come out. Work conditioner into dog's coat with your finger until whole dog is saturated with it. Rinse dog well. Take out and allow to shake, towel dry some and then spray with finishing spray. Work spray into coay with your fingers. Use high volicity dry to blow dry the dog working the nose coen as close to the dogs skin as possiable. All the dead coat will fly away leaving a shiney, clean and shed free dog with out using any combs, rakes, deshedding tools.
If your not up to this whole process your self buy the shampoos system and take the dog to a professional groomer. Pay them to do your dirty work and get a nice cllean and shed free dog back.
I'm retired from grooming but i loved this product (Best Shot) on double coated dogs like shpederds and bernese MD.
Best of luck!!!

Thanks for the help. I will try Best Shot. and everything else as well.
I just got in the handlers new truck and now there is hair all over me. He said his house is worse. Against my advise he took her to a groomer. LOL They asked him to leave. I love that dog. It is a bit diffcult here as the wind chill is -10 and I am not blowing her at at my house.

If i was closer i'd offer to groom your crazy shepherd, coat doesn't scare me i'm groomed Samoyeds. Shepherds got nothing on them.
Find a better groomer. I'm sure there at least one serious groomer in your area.
Best of luck,
Fry

Paul... Is she blowing coat (seasonal undercoat) or is it continuous guard hairs that are shedding?  If it is undercoat blowing out, Fry has the best advice.  If it is continuous shedding even after the dead undercoat is removed, I've had good success with a product called Inflight Coat Formula.  It's great for bitches that lose an excessive amount of coat after their heat cycle or pregnancy.  When was her last heat cycle?

My girl is blowing coat also....and almost done.  Thank goodness.
She also just finished her heat so that is out of the way for awhile.
