I am putting this e-mail in as it was worded....I know the person put too many zero's in, but they have contacted me 9 times
and have mis-spelled GSD>like GDS> or did you get my e-mails, I am having trouble with my computer, so I got a few of the same, I have already answered the person back and suggest they adopt an older dog that they know to be healthy, like a rescue........but I still feel that if you can't afford the pup/dog, than don't get one, I did not tell them that, I don't want to be rude, so, like the post says> How would YOU answer this e-mail?

Thanks!

("Hi Paula
I am kind of hesitant to say this, but I do not think I can afford 1,4000.00 if that is her due to being a single parent and other aspects.  If  I a may ask what happens to him if he does not turn out to be 100% healthy?")

I'd block the email address. You already answered. That's a nightmare looking for a place to happen.

i can't tell you how i would answer it, since i am not in that situation, but on the flip side, i told my oldest gsd's breeder that i did not think i could afford $1,200 to $1,500 for a pup.....and the response i got, was, hey, we're willing to work with you. give us $150 to hold a pup when the pups are on the ground, and the rest when you've got it....
i saved every spare penny i had because i was encouraged by this response, and 6 months after i started saving, i went and picked up puppy.... My beautiful almost 8 year old girl has been a joy since the day i got her. (kudos to vom Haus Millers).
i wanted a dog with sound temperament and that's what i got....awesome....worth every penny.

Yes, but did you tell them that 9 TIMES? LOL

That's what makes me think the person is a nutjob- not the fact that they're short on cash. I had 7 of 9 buyers making payments on my first litter;-)

I second Jenni! I've made arrangements with puppy buyers before & would do so again. However this chick sounds like she's not all there....

I also have made payment arrangements with people on pups, and I have bought them that way also.
I certainly don't expect that to be the first question asked, and I don't want it asked through a poorly worded email either.
Call me and ask about some of the more Iimportant things about my dogs first.
I also require my pups to be picked up at my house. I want to know who they are going with.

oh.....no, i did only say that once, and i got a free retired dog from them before in person, so they already knew me.

To answer the OP 's question. I would ask the person for their phone number and the best time to call.

She may not be a good English speaker and could be a wonderful owner. With so little information to make a judgement call this early in the game would not be beneficial. Give it a chance to play out. My point is you would have a better chance of getting to know their aspirations by speaking with them on the phone and then maybe in person than in an email. On the other hand she might be a horrible owner but again without more information and at least speaking with them and hearing a voice I would say in this case you may never know.

Good Luck!

I checked back in my e-mails, this person has e-mailed me 15 times...since back in Sept.

Here are some of the labels acompanying the e-mails, I think she should look towards getting a rescue as she has had one in the past.
I gave her some links to some other breeders that have more of a variety of ages to choose from and for less money, and she said, "What are you trying to tell me>>>"
That's a good suggestion
Prodigy, but I don't think I can converse on the phone with this person as they don't seem to fully understand the GSD breed very much at all......

about German Shepards

About German Shepereds

(Hello my name is -------- and I was wondering if you had or new of  any available GSD puppies,

I was also wondering if you had  or new of any pups that are a little older for example 8 weeks to 10 months  available say near  MA)

(if you could please email me back that would be great thanks)

(HI Paula to answer your questions no I have not owned a pure German Shepard but have had a dog who was a possible cattle dog Shepard mix, or he was an Australian kelpie/cattle dog. its hard to say what his breed was as he was a rescue. we lost him a couple of years ago due to old age, and he had been sick. He was not a working dog.  My plans for a pup/dog would to be to have them as a family pup/dog, one who my daughter could bring to my work to visit with patients and maybe our local PD (police department) and to take the dog/ pup running and walking.  Have these pups/ dogs been around other dogs or cats? )

(Hi Paula first off I apologize if you received duplicate emails from me as I have had some trouble with my new email system.  If I were to get a pup it would be a family pet. and maybe go and visit people in a nursing home.  Have not owned a full blooded GSD but had a dog that had some shepherd in him. If possible I would be interested in male but if none were available a female would be fine.)

hi Paula real quick I was just wondering if you knew why GSD were so expansive.
