We all see many posts from people talking about the, "older dogs," or, "how dogs used to be."
How far back does your dog's (or dogs') 5 generation pedigree go?
I realize that there could be old pedigrees from using frozen semen, so, please inform if this is the situation with your dog's pedigree.

My female that I presently compete with is five years old. Her 5 generation pedigree goes back to 1967.

Feel free to post whatever the year is, and your dog's pedigree if you are comfortable doing so. It's not a competition, just information.

To the people who have been involved with GSD's a long time, like Duke, Gustav, Susie and others, do you remember a dog from your past or one that was a favorite that also had a pedigree that went far back?

My current male only goes back to 1988 in the 5. generation, but the showlines are different...
I really had to take a look at the pedigree - a lot of memories - out of this pedigree I handled 8 of his ancestors during training or on a show.

My male is 5 years old and the oldest dog in his 5-gen pedigree was born in 1978.  Actually I only checked his motherline, I assumed that would yield the older dogs since I know his dam was born when his grand-dam was 10 years old.

i'm not sure i understand what kind of point you are trying to make.  if you have an older dog, with dogs in the pedigree that were older when they were
bred, ofcourse you will have earlier dates.  my "ed" is 10 & his 5 gen pedigree goes back to edo helgenhohe---1967.  not really a big deal.  it just means
that some of the dogs in between were still producing in later years.  however, if i could find some more dogs with edo that close up, i'd sure as hell 
buy them :)

Just wondering if others have peds with older dogs in them, or a rough estimate of what the average is.

(My only agenda would be to have a thread where people don't have to fight and just make friendly posts about dogs.)

It looks like you posted Capri's pedigree twice?

I saw that. I was too lazy and I didn't care enough to fix it. It was Caleb's; it must not have copied. 

My 11 year old, goes back to Quant von der Wienerau 1973, I think that may be the oldest unless I missed something but got confused on part of the searching and did not feel like backtracking to make sure this was oldest.
