This is my biggest pup out of six, he is 4 weeks old and weighs seven pounds!
He is going home with a Police Chief Teeth Smile
The runt of the litter is on the other end of the scale weighing just 2 pounds at 4 weeks....

Yeah, he has a pugnacious expression well suited to a Police Dog,
already.  LOL.  Very sweet pups, but that is a big difference in size !

How many days did you breed the dam? How many days gestation was there? Did the little one's eyes open the same day as everyone else?

Thank you all for your replies!

I bred Oeht & Maggie one day skip a day then bred again, only two times....
The little guys eyes didn't open till after everyone else's.

And yes, this are baby Oeht's!!!!!

I am leaning towards keeping the little black girl  Heart

Mine was runt of the litter.  http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=737977-petra-von-den-oher-tannen  she was the south east siegren in Landrum this year.

That's not a runt, Paula, as you know...that's probably a younger pup. I know the big debate about whether that's possible or not, but how else do you explain pups who appear premature and develop normally, at a rate that's exactly proportionate...just "behind"?  That's why I asked about the eyes.

I agree 100% with Jennifer. This puppy was the product of a late-released egg fertilized after the rest. Sperm can live in the reproductive tract up to 7 days after copulation.

I have also observed this with rabbits where a much smaller, though, vigorous and normal kit takes longer than its littermates to open eyes, ear solid food, etc. But give it a few weeks and you can't tell the difference between all of the litter.
