I know this is a long shot, but a friend and volunteer fire fighter has his pup in for bowel obstruction surgery as I type. The puppy has been training for search and rescue and his owner is devastated.
Thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated! If anyone can donate, even just a tiny bit (I know its rough, right after the holidays) Erich and Aries would be so thankful!
If you would like to make a donation directly to the vet's office instead of through the fundraiser, you can call them directly.

Aries came out of surgery ok yesterday. One of his toys was removed. The vet is keeping him through the weekend because he's not eating yet.

Glad to see he made it through the surgery....not surprised that they found a toy as the obstruction, as it's all to common. Sometimes it's a piece of a vinyl, latex or rubber squeaky-toy, sometimes it's pieces of a soft stuffed toy--owners should never take it for granted that such things will pass through the pup on their own.
I'll be making a donation directly to the vet clinic on Monday, so there aren't any PayPal fees taken out of the donation, but I do like that you set up the website with one of the services that don't take a servicing fee of their own, Melissa.
Hopefully Aries recovers uneventfully, and goes on to be a dynamite SAR dog!

Thank you so much Hexe!!
Yes, I'm positive that his human will be much more careful, especially that Aries is now a proven "Hoover". It looks like from the photo he sent me that Aries swallowed the toy whole.. he thought it may have been a piece of stuffing from his dog bed, but nope.
Again, thank you thank you thank you!!

I was at my vet who is a cancer specialist's [Dr Proulx} office. There were other vets there that did surgery. A young Marine was there because the family Cattle Dog swallowed a batch of the wife's tampons. The surgeons did not think that the dog would survive, but they did not have the money to try to save the kids' dog. So I donated some money for the surgery. The dog did not survive as the intestines were ripped up, if I remember correctly.
Marine may have guessed that I was the one, but I did not leave my real name. He wrote a beautiful note to thank me and a picture of his dog that did not make it. I kept both items.
You monitors may think I am the most terrible person, but just once in a while I do do nice things.

Giving the thread a bump to move it a bit further up on the page...and to note that the veterinary clinic keeps regular 8 to 5 hours, for anyone that wants to donate directly. I called when I got done work today, and found that out, so I'll have to call in my donation first thing in the morning instead.

Just a quick clarification to something Hexe said-
When I was collecting for Jackie, I did not have to pay Paypal fees on the domestic donations that were marked "send money to family or friends." ONLY "goods and services" marked monies were hit with the fees. Just an FYI...
