I adopted my sweet puppy a few months ago. We were told she was a Pitbull Mix, but other then coloring I don't see the pit breed in her. She is 6 months old and weighs around 27-30lbs (I haven't weighed her in a few weeks!)

Any thoughts on what breeds she may be?

Ps- sorry for the sideways pictures, I can't figure out how to rotate them!

She still could be a Pit mix, there's a lot about.  But mixed with what ?
Pix, even if right way up, are not really clear enough to make a good guess;
could do with one in better light (outdoors, maybe ? and with pup standing up).
Short of that, my best idea at the moment is a Shar Pei mix;  from her weight
and the ears.  Looking at the stretched-out position, could be some Whippet
in there, and that gives you the colour even if there is no APBT.    Best wishes
with her.

Thanks for the input. Here are a few more pictures, and one next to my other dog. My black dog used to be bigger than he brindle one, but now she's getting longer and a bit taller then him.

Not sure of breed, but I love the ears.  She looks like she could easily have her humans wrapped around her paws.

Is she spayed? If so, spayed very young? He build looks odd...like she was spayed young.

Why do you think she's not a Pit mix?

The shape of her eyes and her thicker muzzle look pit-ish to me.

She looks sort of pitty/houndy to me. Might be a cur dog. (Not a bad thing but a type of mixed breed farm dog)
I've seen some funky looking pit/hound dogs around here.

Jenni78- she was spayed very young, we think around 4 months. But then again the age we think she is now is just a guess. She was a rescue pup, and she was actually a stray on the streets. Her face to me doesn't look like a pit, and also her size. If she is a pit then she must be mixed with a smaller breed as well.

Thanks for all the input guys! It's been driving me crazy not knowing her breed, her vet didn't even have a guess!

Honestly if she were a street dog stray she could be a mix of 2, 4, 8 or many more breeds of dogs. Depending on how muttly her parents were. I think pit bull was their best guess at any breed. (Sort of a catch all thing)

I get so disgusted when people see a proper size Pit and don't know what it is!!! We (technically my bf's dog) have a wonderful female APBT who tips the scales at 32lbs lounging on the couch at 3 years old...26-28lbs if she's being shown ADBA. They are NOT BIG DOGS!!! Most of the Pits that people call Pits are the mutts (molosser crosses, mostly) and the real ones slip through the cracks.

Anyway, I won't rant anymore. Her body type looks odd- maybe because of whatever other breed in there, but she has that classic early spay look where the body is longer and rounder and the legs continue to grow since there are no hormones to tell them to stop at the appropriate time (those hormones are what closes growth plates, particularly in hips) so you get a dog taller, especially in the rear, than that dog would've been if allowed to mature whole. She won't have the classic lean, defined muscle tone that she would if she were not spayed and pure APBT, so again, it's hard to tell if it's the type dog she's mixed with, or she looks different because she was never able to develop that type condition/structure.

She may be a dog whose first 4 generations are all mixes. I see Pit, I see it in her frog-leg lying down position, I see it in her eye shape and her ears, and like everything else, just because something's not a particularly well-bred example of a breed does not mean that it isn't that breed. Maybe her first 4 generations were all different mixes, but like so many dogs running the streets, have Pit blood, that she's a mix of 46 breeds, and is maybe roughly half Pit when you add them all up. You'll never know! She's cute- enjoy her.
