Anybody able to tell me where to find those aluminum dog crates for the back of a pickup truck? I'm looking for the kind that house 2 dogs in separate compartments. I found some around here but they want almost 600.00 for one.Thank You, Dave C.

THE absolute best aluminum crates are made by Markus Manufacturing in Texas. They are custom made of the best materials. I have 2 for sale and two in my vehicle with an equipment drawer. I looked at every single one on the market before buying them and though expensive, they will last many lifetimes. All the others are cheaper and thinner metal and welded poorly and leak etc..... If you have any interest in mine, I will make you a good deal on two of them. schwarzenberggsd@earthlink.net

I do not have those types, but have quite a few Airborne crates for sale: www.archangelgermanshepherds.com/crates.htm MJ

I've looked at several on line. What about temperature? Doesn't aluminum get very cold in winter and boiling hot in summer?

Ranchlady, I think if there under a truck cap or inside a SUV you would be ok.Put a blanket in for cold weather and maybe a fan in real hot weather.

blueshep,if you dont make a deal with someone on the database, you might try kustom krates.com but they are expensive because he makes it for the type of vehicle you have.

Aluminum does not get hot or cold. It is the absolute best material, aside from Stainless Steel, for something like this. Of course, common sense would suggest that one needs appropriate shelter from the sun and from cold temperatures. But there are ways to deal with that. So many people drive their dogs around in the bed of pickup trucks in plastic crates without any shelter from the sun or cold and that is not a good thing to do. There are ways to insulate crates and if you have a topper or a suburban, the dog will be sheltered anyway. The crates I have are from Kustom Krates. And yes, they are expensive. They are simply the finest in craftsmanship and solid. He will make anything you want for any type of setup you need. After looking at his website today, I see his prices have gone up considerably because aluminum is very, very expensive now. Thanks to the war in Iraq and Afgahnistan, almost all raw materials including lumber, insulation and metals are way, way more expensive than just a few years ago.

Max, I checked out the site and they have just about anything you want in crates and trailers. I'll check them out at the 07 Seiger show in Danbury.
