Hi All,
I know this surgeon. He has recently started this endeavor and I thought many of you might be interested to keep him in mind "just in case." This is in the Chicago area. This set-up is really unique- your dog has the surgery at YOUR REGULAR vet clinic, with the people he/she knows, in a convenient location for the owner, but the surgery is done by a highly trained specialty surgeon. There are obvious advantages, not the least of which is that your vet knows exactly what's going on for follow-up questions, etc.
He has done sensitive spinal surgery on my Chihuahua, he did Dawulf's dog's elbow surgery 6 years ago, and he's the one who saved Caleb from a futile TPLO when he had pano and had been misdiagnosed by 2 other ortho vets.
He doesn't act like I'm stupid when I give my hypotheses and tentative diagnoses (and you all know I have a few of those, lol) and keeps an open mind with none of the dismissive ego of so many highly-trained specialists. He genuinely cares about the animal.
I would highly recommend him for any surgeries you're not comfortable with your "regular" vet performing or those which the vet does not wish to or does not have the training to perform. If you contact him with questions, just tell him I (Jennifer Williams) sent you and that you saw my post on the forum. I warned him I might post his website on the forum but didn't wait for his permission.

Good to know, Jenn...wonder if the Admins could make this a sticky of this and amend the title so it specifies he works in the Chicago, IL area?

by Jenni78 on 24 December 2013 - 00:12
Good idea. I haven't asked him what his specific radius is. I will do that and post back.

I think the title cut me off- I tried to put area in. What I should've done was take out "recommended." I just talked to him- he's getting on a plane right now for holiday travel but when he returns, I'll get more detailed information from him and post accurately....this time, with his permission.lol
Chicago Area Mobile Specialty Surgeon might be a better title.

Darn, he should come out to California, as we need people like him on the West Coast, especially CA!!!

Yes, I see that the entire thread is just DESPICABLE, Jen! How the hell can someone find anything to dislike about a recommendation for a veterinary surgical specialist???
