I am always short on ideas (because if person u are giving doesnt know what they want, how the hell am I suppose to guess what they would want?)...i personally rather just give $ and call it a day....but i am trying to be good...
so this year i am getting for significant people in my life...
- Top Gear calendar and car sticker (for top gear fanatic)
- perfume (mother in law)
- coffee mug (looks like a camera lens for photography student)
- unframed work of art of Paris (for someone who just decided thats where they want to go when they grow up)

I got like 8 more people to go and i am....screwed....I was in a store the other day and its all so genetic...boxes of chocolates, wrapped ornaments, it just seems like there is no personality....maybe its just me and my dislike for shopping but i cant seem to figure out what to get....

I'm doing my best to shop locally and support the little guy. I got my parents a thorough house cleaning by the local Amish girls.
Gift certificates and gift cards mostly.  A few toys from China but that's it ;)

My daughter's husband just finished their new addition, so I got her new flatware, with serving pieces, for her new kitchen.  My other daughter wants a corded wall phone, which I haven't yet picked up, but I also got her a new foot bath, to replace the one that died.  My sister also had a new kitchen this past summer and I got her in the family grab-bag.  I got her glass containers with snap lids and a beautiful cutting board.  The kids I got clothes and toys and my oldest granddaughter wanted new earbuds, so that's what she got.  Those damned things are expensive!

A couple of years ago, I got my daughters hand wax baths (I also got myself one) and we use them for our "girls' night" get togethers, so beauty products that you wouldn't normally buy yourself is usually a good choice.   One year I gave my daughters some Japanese paintings on silk that I had gotten from a deceased family member and I had them stretched and framed as a Christmas gift.

If all else fails, you can do a "coupon book", with different things that you'll do with or for that person throughout the year such as lunch, a manicure, a movie or anything in particular that you know they like.  Your time is a commodity too, so giving some of it is a nice gift.

Just keep in mind that whatever you give should be personal and from the heart, you can't go wrong.  Good luck!

LF, it would be helpful if we knew something about the 8 people you still have left...man, woman, child?  Age brackets?

If you're not an Amazon Prime member, they're offering a free trial membership for 30 days which gives you free shipping, and most of the stuff they market there would likely ship in time for the 25th...just don't forget to cancel the trial before the 30 days are up, or you'll get stuck paying the annual fee.

vk4gsds, it wouldn't surprise me if all your family & friends could use a relaxation disc, if you give them half the business you dole out on here! Tongue Smile

3 man, 4 women and 2 kids under age of 7....crap..thats 9 people....
thanks for info on amazon...will have to try it.
man:
i know man love tools, so you would think it would be easy...but man and tools are like women and shoes, there are brands, grip sizes, what i dont think matters for them is a deal breaker, so instead of buying gift sets of tools i try to get latest gadgets but..once again man are like kids they want it when it comes out so most of them already have it...so i decided for man it will be gift cards to hardware stores....so 3 down 6 to go.
kids:
1) one is into barbies, but i think she has every barbie that exists, so thats not gonna work...i am thinking jewelry something cute but wont break a budget and if she looses it i wont feel bad, but it has to be common that mother can replace it....
2) well...this girl is...well...if u can picture angelic looking child that lives in a bubble of her own making you got it....she would not step on dirt, she would not touch anything, when i took her and her sister to horse riding she would not get out of the car because there were poops everywhere and it smelled....she has a white bedroom with white furniture and pink canopy over her white bed...she does not own or will wear anything black....my guess is jewelry also...
women:
no idea.....age range from 29 -54......and i got nothing...

GSD Travel..i like those ideas....but i dont want to spend time with them, i really don't....or if i will it will be over coffee or in a restaurant and under 1 hr...i like them, they are family i just dont always like them.....
