Ruger1

I have been thinking about something for a while now. Mainly due to the snarky comments from friends, family, (and the husband) They love to say things like, " You are talking to complete strangers again?", or " Why do you spend so much time talking with people you don't even know?" or "You better stop talking to those weird people on the Internet",,If someone would have told me years ago that I would be spending hours on a PDB I would have laughed out loud!!!,,,I could have never pictured myself enjoying Internet communication,,,

Anyway, I originally thought that it was because of the common interest of GSD's and topics related to them,,Then it moved beyond GSD's and into Off Topic interests,,Now I actually find myself thinking about you all as I do anyone else in my life,,lol,,,I can not help but find it a bit odd,,

I don't want to sound unkind, but when I think of people that spend a lot of time on the Internet I have a mental impression of them being unmotivated, unliked, socially awkward, social outcasts, and just plain weird,,I am sure that sounds mean, but I am just being honest here,,,I do not fit any of those descriptions I just described and I assume most of you don't either. I am only guessing as I really only know a handful of you personally..

I can't help but find the whole idea peculiar,,Am I the only one that feels this way,,Maybe I am weird!!,,I could believe that actually, lol,,,,I have a full and busy life and a wonderful family and a handful of good friends,,Why do I find pleasure sitting in front of a computer with complete strangers?.,,Thinking,,,

BTW,,I am sure we can have fun with this subject, but I am looking for real insight ,,Any psychiatric Docs. in the house,,

To be brutally honest, I work a lot, and the more I work, the more you see me here.  Things can get so tedious and monotonous looking at this screen all day that the diversion helps me keep my sanity sometimes.  Most of you are also able to carry a decent conversation which helps, given that the average vocabulary of the majority of individuals here on the frontier seems to be limited to around 10 different phonetic variations of the same grunt, irrespective of SES.  Teeth Smile  I am also passionate about the GSD, and learn quite a bit from people who know infinitely more about the breed than I do. Occasionally, there are issues raised that I feel strongly about, where the investment is worth the effort, if for reasons only known or appreciated by me.  At the end of the day, we are all real people regardless of proximity.  It is also a fact that that social media and the internet is increasingly relevant in interpersonal relating whether it be friends, family, or acquaintances.

Oh, Carlin I feel so much better now!..Yes, it did start with gobbling up all that GSD information !!,,I love to learn and get insight from those with all that GSD knowledge!!,,,And of course the passionate OT topics,,What Smile,,,

I am really passionate about three things in life #1 GSD's and #2 My Faith and #3 My Children,,,Not sure what order they fall into sometimes to be honestRed Smile,,,Two of the three I can enjoy among you all here. My children I keep more private for obvious reasons,,,

It is also a fact that that social media and the internet is increasingly relevant in interpersonal relating whether it be friends, family, or acquaintances.

Does this mean that those of us who do the above well are special?...Wink Smile....

Having just had some of those misconceptions about us all that you
listed Ruger, thrown at me  - by a fellow poster ! -  I too have spent
some time 'meditating' on your question recently.

Just as you know the accusations are not true of yourself, I'd guess
they are inaccurate when it comes to most of us.  Yes, sure, there's
always the danger of weirdoes on the Net.  But I suspect most of those
are typing merrily into sites elsewhere ...  Most if not all of US are brought
together by our pronounced interest in dogs.  How many neighbours, work
colleagues, even family share that interest, at least to our degree ?  Very
few, however many 'real' people you meet and talk with. [Apart from at the
obvious places, dog Clubs.hundsports events, Shows or whatever.]

...maybe, maybe not,  but "special" can take on both positive and negative connotations, lol.

Hi Tiger!

I'm on death row and only post when they let me in the prison library where I can access a computer.

So I'm completely normal and have a lot going for me.

...or, you could just at least pretend  that you are whole, and attempt to participate in the thread in genuine fashion.
