When i had pups i started them off on adult food soaked until it could be mashed, and as they got better at eating i reduced the amount of water until they were eating dry by about 5 to 6 weeks old. Mostly i let them pig out, once on dry i tried to figure out how much they ate before they started walking away. Then reduced it slightly. I wanted the pups full but not bloated. And with small pups i fed usually about 4 times a day weaning back to 3 time a day by 8 weeks.
My own personal pup got 3 cups of dry until about 9 months old, then her growth slowed down a bit and i cut her back to 2.5 cups a day. I usually plan to feed my adult dogs to cups for females and 3 cups for males. Depending on activity and body mass.
For me this formula has worked for 8 dogs in 16 years
Currently i have a medium sized American Bulldog female, 2 years old, fairly active. I feed her 2 cups of Taste of the Wild dry a day and sometime a spoon full of wet food to make it seem like something special! I feed 1 cup am and pm. I also use Natural Balance (The logs of moist food) as training treats and this is calculated into her feeding rations.

Hey fry I appreciate the feedback, I feed all my pups 3 times a day "taste of the wild" and an hr or 2 I water until old enough to understand when enough is enough. I use pie dishes to make sure equal amount is given. I was just wondering what others did but no one must not have had pups before. lol. I do love to use natural balance logs as training treats but do switch up every couple days with hot dogs.
thanks again appreciate it

What age are you looking at? Under 8 weeks? Over 8 weeks?

I start my pups on food between 2 and a half and three weeks of age ,depending on nuumber of pups in a litter.(you know if and when they are hungry).
I use either pro-pac performance large breed puppy food or sportmix puppy food. High fat/high protein. Both made by same company.(some say crappy food but It has worked well for me and my dogs/pups for many years).
I moisten it with warm water and mix a couple scoops of canned dog food in for flavor, lol. I put it down on a huge cookie sheet and let them have at it. At first they wear more than they eat, but by four weeks, they graduate to the large turkey roaster pan, and now I add cooked ground turkey, and raw ground beef.
They eat until they are full. I let the moother dog eat what they do not finish.
I do this three times a day until either they are gone,or reach 12 weeks, which ever comes first. (They usually are gone).
I allow access 24/7 to dry ki
