My Rottie bitch will be due to have her hips and elbows done pretty soon and I've been out of the business so long that I have no idea where I should take her to get them OFA'd. In the past I had taken dogs to MSU but that was while Dr. Mostosky was there and to my knowledge he retired a few years back.
Would anyone be so kind as to provide me a reference to a GOOD canine radiologist in Michigan, please? Preferably one you have heard great reviews from, seen their work yourself/had your dogs done there, or one you currently use. In this case, price is no object for exceptional xrays and in my opinion they can come from a run of the mill Veterinary office or a specialty clinic, and driving distance isn't a concern as my husband and I get great gas miliage.
My ONLY stipulation is that they are in Michigan as despite great gas miliage I'm not willing to drive out of state at this time as my father is on a ventilator in the hospital.
Thanks!

Good question, I used Mos too and yes, he is not practicing any more :(
I've had good luck just using my normal vets for OFAs and a-stamp lately but those two dogs were "normal" dogs (OFA Good/a-stamp 1/Normal) so there wasn't much at stake as far as *perfect* positioning. It is SouthKent in the GR area. I had to use the Byron Center one for analog (for a-stamps) and I think the Caledonia is now digital. The prices are good, positioning was good (I thought) and I've always kept my x-rays since sometimes they need to go to Germany for an a-stamp or I would show them to Mos when I had the chance. Here is an example of a 6 month prelim done by a regular vet at SouthKent (note that this is a picture I took of an analog film on a lightbox, it's not an actual digital x-ray so don't judge the sharpness or exposure):

Thanks VK!
I like the positioning (not that I'M an expert, because Im not) and clarity isn't bad, even for non-digital!
Want something to laugh at? Here's an xray I had of my bitch at 6months when I picked her up...yeah...Too bad I had prepaid for the damn things.

Is the xray above a Rottweiler? Just guessing based on conformation.
Edit- maybe you're talking about the same bitch, in which case, it's definitely a Rott. LOL

Yep, same bitch, a rottie. LOL
I now post the xrays to laugh at...the position was so horrible, I can't believe I still had to legally pay for them. Never again, my friends, never again. You all should see the notebook I keep of good and bad vets LMAO, I feel like a crazy but hey, it helps to know what vets you like and which you certainly steer clear from.

I would go to Wilson Vet http://www.wilsonvethospital.com/. With their semen freezing center, rehab facility and modern equipment, they cater to the dog fancy and they do 100s of OFA xrays every year. I haven't had a hip xray done there yet, but I have had several other procedures done there. They are top notch. And amazingly, they are 1/3 of the cost of other vets for practically everything. Dr. Wilson himself is still practicing and very knowledgeable. I will probably have him do my young dog's hip xray.
