If your track, after sitting for an hour, is completely obliterated by blowing leaf/dead grass litter ... it may be too windy to track.
If your dog goes to make a corner and the wind kicks up to a strength that he gets a face full of blowing leaf/dead grass litter to the extent that it is sticking out of his ears/the collar around his neck ... it may be too windy to track.
If you dog has to stop, dig the article out of the cover of leaf/dead grass litter that has completely buried it, so he can then platz and indicate it's existence ... it may be too windy to track.

BUT...if your dog overcomes ALL of those things, and STILL indicates the articles and completes the track, you've certainly got one strong, determined tracker at the end of that line!!! Good job!

LOL!!
Well, we weren't trial quality today, that was certain but I went into the field with 3 articles and I came out with 3 articles so I was very proud of him.

Getting up early to do anything with your dog...Including tracking in the wind is a GOOD Day...Anything extra in between makes it a GREAT Day...
Hopefully you had a good time anyway...

I wait for the wind to go tracking. Best way to practice in wind and rain

I agree with practicing in all conditions, which was why I went ahead and laid a track for him but when it came time to run it, it was just too much.
Next time it is that level of wind, I'll still do tracking but instead of getting ambitious and doing a full length IPO 3 track, I'll practice on our starts, straight lines, maybe one corner or articles.
