Breeders, what is the longest tie you've had between your dogs? Mine just had a marathon, no problem just long. Curious what the "record" is.

My Stud (Golden) tied for 123.5 minutes...We finally had to get out the bag of frozen peas to reduce swelling...Wolf the father of my puppy (Naya the GSD) tied with Ginta (Naya's mom) for 60mins. Thats what the breeder told me.

Longest about 40 mins , and I was getting nervous.....bag of frozen peas....does the really work? Id be sure to put a stick in the males mouth before I put frozen anything near the site......I hope longivity never happens here.......

Almost three hours my first mating back in the mid eighties. For a while I thought this was normal. Boy, was I surprised when I found out how long it usually takes.

65 minutes was the longest tie I've ever seen and I was also getting pretty nervous since all other ties I've seen have been around 20 minutes.

The last breeding I did with my male before I retired him: 110 minutes! Almost seems like he knew it was his last time and he wanted to get the most out of it! :-)

Seems like all my ties are normal. But I do know that if you grab the sugar canister and pour it on the male's "stuff" it will reduce swelling and break the tie in about 2 minutes or less. Vickie

YellowRose, You must remember also, I am talking about a Golden Retriever, a dog that WOULD NOT bite, under ANY circumstances, so he let me, no pain or anything, I actually think it felt good, I noticed some coloration, and that scared me, so thats when I ran for the peas. I held them on there for roughly 2 minutes, and finally they were done. I'm a firm believer in some old methods. Like no Rabies shots on a bitch less than 3 weeks before her heat cycle begins, no vaccines for a Pregnant bitch, giving Oxytocin after a litter, even if I THINK all of the placentas and afterbirths came. Well, so much for my $.02, more like a whole dollar!
