Cthulhu

I am seeking an opinion from this knowledgeable group concerning my puppy. He is a 5 month old WL gsd. The top1/3 of his ears still seem to be kind of floppy or softish when he's moving his head around or running. Is this because he's still young and will get better, or do i need to consider taping his ears? Or are there some other remedies to correct this. I dont think my 1 1/2 yr old female was like this at 5 months. What do you guys think?

Is he currently teething? Because he's at the right age and often when teething they will get soft ears. Most times the ears fix themselves.
I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Try giving him some hard raw bones to chew on, it will help firm up the cartilage in his ears/jaws too.

Just a theory I massage all my young dogs ears to stimulate blood flow to help them stand sooner.

AUBS, I agree with you. Also your puppy IS teething at this age. It is very common for strong ears to go soft or even go down. If they were up before, they will most likely go back up on their own. Nothing to worry about now. Keep us posted..

I will try to massage his ears , just 'cause i'm the paranoid type and if there's a chance it could help, i'm game. I will inform y'all over the next few weeks if he can get 'em up. If not, i heard viagra might help:-)

And if it does help more than 4 hours, contact your doctor immediately.  Teeth Smile
