http://www.mittelwest.com/ DON'T BUY FROM THIS KENNEL. I BROUGHT A PUPPY FROM HER AND PAID $3000.00, AND THE PUPPY CAME UP WITH HIP DYSPLASIA AT NINE MONTHS. I ALSO PAID $375.00 TO HAVE THAT PUPPY SHIPPED. THE OWNER JULIE WANTS ME TO PAY $375.00 AGAIN FOR THE REPLACEMENT, AND SAID I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE SHE LET ME KEEP A DOG I COULDN'T BRED. THE HIPS WERE SO BAD THAT SHE DIDN'T WANT THE DOG, BUT TOLD ME IF SHE DID, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO SHIP NOW AN OLDER DOG THAT WEIGHTS MORE BACK TO HER, PLUS PAY AGAIN FOR THE REPLACEMENT. SHE IS SELLING THE FATHER OF MY PUPPY, TITAN FOR $25000.00. PLEASE PUBLIC STAY AWAY FROM HER. SHE IS MONEY HUNGRY AND SHE DOESN'T CARE HOW SHE TREATS PEOPLE.. THE MOTHER OF MY PUPPY IS OLA.  http://www.mittelwest.com/

I am not defending anyone and I do not know her personally but it is NOT unusual for you to have to pay for shipping. At least she is offering you a replacement. Some breeders will not even do that. Do you have a contract?

Mittelwest will do whatever your contract says. Just read what you agreed to when you purchased the puppy and ask them to do that and they will. Shouldn't be a problem. What you described is not far from what is typically done in your situation, but check your contract.

I don't see what your problem is with Mittelwest, her offer is fair, and you are lucky that she isn't insisting on the return of the original pup before sending another...that is more common.  As for your dog getting CHD, it happens even out of the best breeding programs, it's possible for two OFA excellent dogs to produce a pup with CHD.  Genetics are a very finicky thing, particularly poly-genetics.  On top of that, we know nothing about what has affected the dog environmentally since it's conception.

This isn't a matter of being someone's fault, it's a matter of you dealing with mother nature....and we all know how predictable she is.  Anyone who has animals, whether just pet, working or breeding, is going to have disappointments, no way to avoid it.

Your post is premature and the case does not warrant this vindictiveness.

Not going to comment on the kennel or the dogs but that seems normal to me....she offered a replacement, you just pay for shipping.  You can even keep the current dogs (many breeders would require the dog back).  The only way to "guarantee" a dog without HD is to buy a dog that is old enough to have prelims done.

I agree, it's a very fair offer.

Read your contract before you bash a kennel on the Internet. What does selling the stud dog have to do with your pup?

I also agree.  Both of the parents have good hip scores; it happens and she is being very fair with you.  If you don't want to pay the $375.00, go pick your puppy up.

Administrators: the op has not justified their title. this is not right.

@ steven......in all fairness to the puppy, where did you have the xrays taken?  many many local vets
do not have the skills to take properly positioned xrays.  if you don't believe me, read the 100's of
posts on this forum regarding xrays & opinions on them.  i can tell you that the vast majority of posts
receive derrogatory comments about the positioning.  positioning greatly effects the appearance of
the hips & even more so in a young dog like yours.  a friend of mine took her rottweiler to a local vet
when the dog began having problems.  based on his xrays, he claimed the dog was horribly dysplastic
& scheduled surgery to remove the head of the femur.  i was livid!!!!  i finally persuaded her to take
the dog to ames---vet teaching hospital.  turns out the dog had injured a tendon & needed tendon
repair but was absolutely not dysplastic.  it cost her a bunch more money, but she got a correct
diagnosis & the dog is doing marvelous now.
bottom line...........don't take one set of xrays taken by a local yokel as gospel truth.  please make
sure the dog truly is dysplastic before stirring up a hornets nest.  i wish you & the pup good luck.
