Anyone care to provide pictures of your schutzhund club houses? Many of you have put a lot of time and effort into these structures. Show off your hard work and make us envious. Kyle

Brittany do you belong to a club that admitts to having you as a member, lol? We're lucky to have a place to train let alone a club house. The closest thing we have is a pop up tent. I attended a seminar at the Johan Platt Schutzhund Verein. What a club house! Log cabin style, sliding glass doors, 20 foot bar with beer taps, inground pool and 30 foot deck looking over training field. Kyle

Hi Kyle, that is not owned by the club, but by the owner of the property who also has an animal ressort. Chris

Kyle, Did you ask that club if they take in strays for adoption? No, not the animal variety, the handler variety. ;-) LOL I think there's a picture of the Menlo Park SC clubhouse and grounds on their website, also South County SC has one. There's a nice one at Hegins Valley SC too, a large pre-fab building with a complete kitchen (no bathroom, but an outhouse). Another "neat" thing I have seen are bleachers, picnic areas, & fenced playgorunds for the kids with swings, sand boxes, etc. Most clubhouses I have been to have heat & a/c, (sometimes wood or coal stoves) TV/video to keep the kids busy while their family trains and to go over videos of training and events, with people taking turns supervising the kids. A couple I have seen are used mobile homes that have been purchased cheap and fixed up with rooms for guests and storage. With all the talent we have in our club we should be able to throw a decent clubhouse up in one long weekend. Field lights need underground wiring and separate service into about a 600amp breaker box if the lights were going to be "trial quality", but we have about 600' of 00 wire from an old job site. The trenching would probably have to wait till spring. I would like to put up a couple of large, heavy duty canopies for shade this year. SS

We have a full service German Restaurant right off the side of our field. We train at German Park, which is a German heritage organization in Indianapolis. We sure use it all the time. The staff there are awesome to us and we always go down after training for a Warsteiner or some good food. We can even take our dogs and sit on the Biergarten. When we have trials, they set up lunch buffets for us. They are very supportive of our club. We are hosting the 2007 Mideastern Regionals and it should be a great time. It's on my websites Training Page if you wanna have a peek. http://www.sportwaffenk9.com/training.shtml

grimmdog, I'm jealous. Very nice setup. I'll have to go to your Regionals as an excuse to eat at Warsteiner....LOL. Uwe

Check these clubhouses out: http://www.menloparkschutzhundclub.com/ This one is a double wide mobile home, basically gutted and remodeled to a large meeting room, kitchen, two restrooms and a covered deck overlooking the trial field. The grounds are on the SF bay and the soil on the training field (past the sign) is too salty to grow turf of a variety strong enough to take the beating of constant use. After MANY tries with various types of grass they finally gave up put down astro-turf around the (separate) show ring. They have planters with flowers and rose bushes to pretty the place up and a few trees (Eucalyptus, cyprus (sp?) and one species I don't recognize) There's a permanent covered area in the foreground just past the picnic tables with a large bbq grill and counters around it for outdoor food prep. For events they have flags from a number of countries and USA, WUSV, SV, etc. It looks really nice and is a wonderful place to be, not just because of the facility, but also the hospitality of the club. For events they usually BBQ Chicken, tri-tip roasts, etc., and club members bring "pot luck" dishes, (crock pots with beans, salads, rolls, etc.) as is also the case at most CA clubs. Last time I was there I think they charged $8-10. incl. soda or water. They have a similar set up at the field South County and San Jose SC shares. David Deleseguise (sp?) BBQ's a mean tri-tip and Margit Vollrath makes the best German potato salad you ever tasted! You never ate so well in your life! My stomach is growling just thinking about it. Here is Hegins Valley's website, with a picture of their clubhouse in the background. http://www.heginsschutzhundclub.com/photos.html Notice the permanent blinds with the shrubbery in front of them and the wonderful field lights. St. Louis- Looks like a work in progress http://stlouisschutzhund.com/ Check the pix on this club's page for a smile: http://www.highplainscolorado.com/ There are more, but I don't have time to list them all right now. I also have pix of German clubhouses, but they're just as easy to find online... SS SS
