Kelly M Shaw

by Kelly M Shaw on 16 January 2007 - 19:01

I just put a new picture up on my little girl,(The Devil). I would like to get honest opinions on her and her pedigree if I can. www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/491284.html. I would also like some help about her biting. If you just go to pet her she is biting what ever she can get a hold of on you. She never seems to calm down always wanting to bite. The new picture I took I had to quick take it before she attack the tug again. She gets so vocal about that to. Is this all O.K to have because she is going to be trained in Schutzhund? A Thanks is given to everyone that has opinions and can help with her biting behavior.

Always have something she can chew on handy, we used kongs. When she grabs to bite, stick the chew toy in her mouth instead. This has worked for us anyway.

Kelly, I hope you don't mind but I made Askia's photo lighter and easier to see that sweet face. Birdy...

As long as it looks better for you to see her, but you can also email me for more pictures. I just started an album on her but forgot the link to get there. animules, it does bother me that I can't even pet her without her latching on to me. I have bruises all over my legs and arms, and I have tried doing the switch on her with a kong/toy, and she seems to like the feeling of flesh.

Childrens' stuffed animal toys work well as another weapon for redirecting your little aligator.

Birdy, I didn't think it was to dark, sorry about that. I will update it again today. If you read the thread I started earlier (I SERIOUSLY NEED HELP)that is when I have a problem with someone going and changing things on their pedigree, but not when the picture needs to be lightened. I also don't want people to think that it is not the real color of her either. So I will try to get a better brighter picture of the monster today, that one was taken when it was getting dark out. Thanks

Tell her she cannot bite you in whatever way works and redirect her onto something she is allowed to bite, like a tug, kong, ball, whatever. In Schutzhund, she is not allowed to bite flesh either, so in my opinion it is okay to correct this. Bruises on your flesh are not okay.

I can relate to bruises, you betcha! We have a couple that like real people better then toys too. Now the older one sits with her kong in her mouth waiting to be petted. Drivey working dogs. :) don't give up on her, it does take time.

BTW Kelly, she looks good. Lively eyes, you can see her thinking "I'll get ya!"
