I was reading the User names thread and noticed that pages 2 and 3 were mostly of peoples favorite books and authors.

I loved this book by Ann Patchett, called "Bel Canto" It is a beautifully written story set in So. America, where a world famous opera singer sings for the special guest of honor— an international, powerful business man at the Vice Presidents residence. The evening is splendid until a band of guerilla styled terrorists take over the compound and now, all the guests are hostages. The machine gun toting terrorists are discovered to include boys and girls of tender ages, and they interact with the hostages. All are transformed by the experience by each other and I don't want to give it all away.

Well I guess my fave mystery author of all time is Sandra Brown. Damn that girl can take ya places.
I also have found a "new" author Barbara Woods--the one I read was about a Mayan princess way way back before anyone outsiders had come to them. It was called Land of the Sun Goddess or something like that. She has several based on the same thing. They all have similar names. That was a book I couldn't put down.
Right now I am reading another older book--09--by a Nancy Price and it is called Night Woman. Quick synopsis this lady writes books for her bi polar delusional hysband. When he dies she then tries to get them published as her own. She gets remarried but all he wants is to write a biography of her dearly departted. He was such a famous writer (fraud).............Anyway this is all I know and I wouldn't tell all anyway but it is a darn good read.
My all time favorite author for everything is Steinbach and my faves are Tortilla Flat, Cannery Row and of course Grapes of Wrath.

Carlin...I was saddened to here about Mr. Clancey's passing....outstanding Author.
Vonissk....The Barbra woods book sound intriguing might have to download that one :) I also like the Sandra brown books.
GSD....Most of Koontz is to dark and scary for me....LOL. Although I did read a couple of his (I think) books that were written about these animals that had been genetically enhanced and could communicate with people...those were great reads...sorry I can't remember the names though it's been a few years.
Newbie...Thanks will look at those :)
Abhay.....I never read any of the L' Amor books.....I guess since I was born, raised and live in the west for me the cowboy is still a real thing out here....I've even been on a roundup myself....LOL. I didn't know that the Conan movies and series were based on books.....Those were fun movies :)
Bee...I like books like that...thanks for the synopsis :)
Here are couple more books that were great reads for me...(disclaimer....I'm a sucky synopsis writer and highly recommend looking at the books trailer for a better description)
The Daily Coyote by Shreve Stockton.....based on a true story about a woman struggling to discover who she is by making a (permanent) pit stop, on her way back to her home town of New York, in a small town in Wyoming...while there she is gifted an orphan coyote pup...Charlie.
Liberty by Kimberly Iverson....Story about a Celtic woman who was captured and turned into Gladiatrix slave...how she lived and was treated as she fought for her freedom.
