each breed has its strengths and weaknesses.......
you must give a point of reference.
for a pet, protector and dog to keep inside your home, i'd have to say GSD
for a detection dog, strictly working dog, i'd have to say Mal.

Sorry for not being specific, what are the pros and cons of each breed for a family protection dog?

First : consider what job you do the dog, Second: Are you able to deal with his character and his temperament,Third, you have the time necessary for it.Finally you choose a breed that you like more.Because you will be living with the dog in the future.And choose a dog with character and temperament like yours.
