This link has  a break down of some of the ingredients in the food.. I personally think for the price, you could find a better food..

Unlike a lot of people who post on PDB I don't have many
problems using Royal Canin foods  -  but I have become
aware that sometimes RC's ingredients or the proportions
of them vary from one country to another, so what I have
used is maybe not exactly the same as another user has
disliked & found wanting ?  [I'm in the UK]

Me, I think RC is reasonably good value for money,  I am
feeding my one remaining dog a cheaper food now 'cos I
have to, but I'd prefer to have him back on RC if I could.

One thing about the GSD specialist version of RC, though:
every GSD I ever gave a choice to has preferred or done better
on the RC all-breed Maxi range !

Feed meat. It is infinitesimally better for your dog and if you shop around you'll save money and you will not have to worry about ingredients and their quality and  ratios .
As far as I know R C makes dogs grow too fast which leads to bone and joint problems. "Everybody"  likes big dogs . Right? ( JMO)

I feed both my GSD with RC Adult GSD with beef 500 gms. I just add salmon oil. No problem

forbes.com dog food made from feathers

healthypets - Feathermeal it's weirder than you can imagine

I wouldn't  feed that particular stuff to my dog.

I choose meat.

From my very own experience I must agree with Prager, dogs were growing very fast which led to pano. I switched to lower protein food and now our youngsters grow slower, no problems with pano since then.

Mine eat Royal Canin since he was a pup. I have never had a problem. I added calcium + glucosamine/chondroitin because he is bigger than a common GSD.
