Any recommendations for training books, or even videos that are specific for GSD dogs?

I know I can go a google search but thought you all would have better suggestions.

Thanks!

What type of training are you looking for? Because you could easily be buried under the avalanche of information available. And still not find the right book.
I mean a good GSD should be able to learn anything from herding to manwork to treeing coons. What do you want to do?

Thanks, I guess I should have been more specific.  To begin I just want to teach puppy the basics such as heel, leave it, stay, etc.  I have been in puppy classes before and have read some books in past.  I think I actually have a pretty good idea on how to do this on my own (the real easy basics) but I thought there might be a book that would give me more tips.

Check out Leerberg  they offer a lot of really good articles and video clips. If your really serious get the actual videos. But then it also depends on what style of training you wnat to work with. Now a days you have everything from Clicker to Koler. Just pick what appeals to you.
Personally i like training in a group so others can tell me if i'm making a mistake, if my dog is out of placement or if there is a better way. Be open to suggestion.
And best of all have fun!

Second on Leerburg and Michael Ellis. They have a large selection of free videos to watch on many subjects. This also allows you to preview just about every video/trainer they have so you can decide which DVDs you might want to invest in. Great leather products too, still have a tracking harness that is almost 15 years old from them and still in very good shape! http://leerburg.com/flix/

Best of luck with the new pup!
