Hi, these xrays (yes I am aware the positioning is horrid) were taken today on a 6month old Rottweiler bitch. She was running "funny" so out of concern, we decided to sneak a peek. She does not seem to favor or limp nor have any pain nor yelp upon palpitation, but her hind end gait was just off.

She was non sedated (hence bad positioning). It was my opinion and that of my vet that there is no evidence thus far of HD. Would care for opinions. I'm not asking anyone for a grading seeing as the positioning is as it is, but i figured i could at least get a few good guesses as to whether HD might rear its ugly head in her future.

Dam is OFA Fair, sire is HD Frei (yes they also have their elbows done) and are both imports.

Thanks for opinions.

I darkened it a little and zoomed in a little to see if it makes it easier to see? thanks

I wouldn't begin to guess - the xray is not diagnostic.

I don't see any signs of HD, personally.

Not a good x ray. I would like to see better one because the sockets do not look like the are deep enough and the heads look small and the legth of upper thigh bone and shape to me is off... could be much of it is xray as this is very difficult to see anything clearly for me.

ahh it is not a gsd lol I just went back and reread no wonder the deminsions are off on upper thighs lol On rottweilers please make sure to check elbows as that is where they have more problems than the hips. I would like to see better xray as she is so young and the clarity of these are not good.

Her hips look very good, perhaps she has growing pains, feed her adult dog food and stay away from the puppy crapWink Smile

Can't tell much detail from these films and the positioning. But the balls look round and there's sockets. So, they're not severe or even moderate HD at this point.

Thanks all for the replies. I made an appointment with another vet (came highly recommended to me by my girls breeder) for the beginning of October, so I'll post those once we get it done. If anyone else has more to add, I'd love to hear it. All information helps! Thanks again

Why so soon? I'd wait until until she's over 12 months, personally.

She was purchased as a future service dog and if she'll have future hip issues, I need to know now. It won't change my love for her, but I would like to know if she can handle the physical work i need her to perform.
