Based on the agreement, WDA withdrew the motion from the WUSV agenda, and will wait and see if this solution works.

For the 2014 US National Qualifier Trial:
Judge will be selected from a pool of 3 judges that the WUSV supplies.
Judge will speak enough English to give critiques.
Judge will not be from UScA or WDA.
Judge will be qualified to officiate at a WUSV World Championship.
There will be 1 judge for the event.
UScA and WDA will have right to exclude one from the list, if 2 are left judge will be picked blindly.

Both UScA and WDA will work together to fundraise to assist entrants and finance the event.

Fundraise???    If you are going to participate in this sport at all, you must be able to afford such an expensive "hobby."  (I say "hobby" only because I know some see it that way.  The fact is, for those of us who actually train, it is a lot more than a "hobby," it becomes a lifestyle.)    If you are going to compete at that level, including trying to make the Team, I am sorry, but you had better be able to afford it yourself,  in terms of  monetary expense, time off from work, etc.    Both organizations provide some financial assistance for their respective members.  Some clubs and/or regions  voluntarily raise  money to assist a member who makes the Team.   That is as it should be.

WDA has typically sold apparel as  fund-raising measure for its members, and that, too, is as it should be.  ( Frankly, I have always thought it was an excellent idea, and I wish USCA would also sell some type of "supporter" jacket to raise funds for the Team.)

Jointly financing the event is as it should be as well, although  each being responsible for the event in alternate years is jointly financing, and as much as needs to be done, IMO.

Now, what will the whining be when the results of the Qualifier are the same as this year?   Hopefully, having a non-American judge to judge the American Qualifying Trial,  most likely held in the American heartland,  to  select the American Team to the WUSV  Championship, representing two American organizations and their  (primarily) American  membership,  will be enough to forestall un-American sour grapes and un-American whining next year.  We shall see.   Anyone want to bet me a quarter that we hear the same whining?

BTW-- Is the WUSV Championship really now scheduled to end a day early???    With the host hotel having a waiting list of 50 people for rooms, surely there is not a financial issue.   So, what's the  story, Sitasmom?

I think if you're going to be a national organization and fight for the right to send a team to an international competition, you had better be able to financially assist those that are good enough to represent this country.  I wouldn't expect to be compensated for my 2 weeks off of work, but I'd certainly expect a hotel and some meals and a place to train when i'm there.

and we don't even have results and the whining has started :)

by SitasMom on 13 September 2013 - 16:09

yes fundraise....
many of our nation's best teams cannot afford to enter this event if I didn't get financial help....... travel, hotel, entry fees.......then travel to a foreign country to compete.......we need our country's absolute best to be chosen fairly and also be able financially be able to make the trip abroad.

as far as the rest, mystere, shut up already!

our local little league teams fundraise for crying out loud.  Our summer teams and highschool as well.  our AAU basketball teams do.  A local cross country team traveled to  VA for a week so they could compete there.  A guy my brother wrestled in high school was an olympian and took a bronze in Greco-Roman, we had fundraisers for them quite a bit.  We have fundraisers all the time for athletes and competitors. an org that represents a nation of dog trainer's can't or shouldn't???? WTF is that about?

zdog, you pinned it perfectly...all of it!

We are not talking about kids in little league, or high school; we are talking about grown, presumably self-supporting,adults who choose to participate in an expensive hobby.  I did not say NO fundraising, period.    Re-read my post. I will make it easy for you and paste it here:

"Both organizations provide some financial assistance for their respective members. Some clubs and/or regions voluntarily raise money to assist a member who makes the Team. That is as it should be.

WDA has typically sold apparel as fund-raising measure for its members, and that, too, is as it should be. ( Frankly, I have always thought it was an excellent idea, and I wish USCA would also sell some type of "supporter" jacket to raise funds for the Team.)"

USCA has, for years, allocated money in its annual budget for the Team.  That is as it should be.    Whether WDA ever has, I have no idea.  (Although, as I stated, the sale of supporter jackets is an excellent idea. )  At any rate, I am not inclined to have  any of USCA's budget,  derived from its membership, going to the benefit of non-members who want to compete internationally.  Their own organization should subsidize them.   "Joint fundraising" is sounds like nothing more than another effort to pimp USCA.
That being said, I stand by my statements regarding individuals' choices to compete at this level.

I will not engage the childish rants and tantrums.

Yep, the SV in an example of EU socialist wisdom is attempting to make "equal" two organizations which clearly are not.  The more successful organization MUST necessarily share their resources and yes, in some instances, even reallocate them that the weaker member may also survive and "compete."

Even if the long recognized member, the GSDCA, utterly rejects the SV definition of the German Shepherd Dog....
Purely politically based garbage and NOT within the clearly defined requirements for membership outlined in the WUSV constitution.

BTW, I am 100% in favor of any mechanism that ensures the best 6 dogs from either organization represents the U.S. at the WUSV.

And, something not of my business, the WDA is undoubtedly salvageable if leadership is ultimately elected who serves the membership rather than self interest.  USCA needs be diligent of the same but at this time is in very capable hands.

A final point, the SV relishes in playing both U.S. organizations against one another to their sole benefit.   A combined entity would be MUCH stronger and ultimately more competitive on the World stage.

I can't imagine why they don't desire that outcome.....

Kevin
100% correct, I cannot imagine the problems some have with whom they are affilliated too. and it is the very best 6 competitors which should go to represent there country. and it should it be that say 4 of the team are selected from the biggest part and 2 from the smaller organization then all 6 entrants should be helped excatly the same way, because if not then you have a rift in the team before you ever compete. that is no good at all for moral. Only a happy team gives its best. I know we are very lucky over here because you Guys are so spread out where we are in such a small space everyone knows each other fairly well so we do not encounter the problems you Guys have.  I hope it works out i love talking to the USA team members at the events, and have met some very nice people
