I wish somebody who watched this when it was first being shown had warned the rest of us not to view it without a box of tissues nearby.
It's a damn fine piece of work, but I wasn't expecting to go beyond just having a tear or two brought to the eye.
After seeing it, three things come to mind: We really do need to get the hell out of that place. We need to automatically GIVE the handlers their MWDs when the handlers are injured and can't return to duty, and set up a program where the VA works with the team to retrain the dogs to become assistance dogs for their handlers.
And I really wish my nephew didn't just get sent SOMEWHERE over there--we're not allowed to even know where--yet again.
But this documentary is really, really worth watching.
