Question about heat cycles - Page 1

I have a 2 year old female that is confusing me with her heat cycles. She had her first in april 06 we figured on her coming in again 6 months later but came in after 5 months, now 4 months later she's showing signs of coming into heat again, is it normal for a bitch to have shorter cycles in between?

Bitches are not always regular. Just like people. Some are like clockwork, others are completely unpredictable! Oftentimes if a heat is skipped, the next heat DOES come earlier. I've had that happen in my Bax daughter. If you're truly concerned, I would take her to the vet, just to have her checked out. :) Good luck!

With one of my Golden bitches, she came in at 12 months, then at 6 months later, now she's doing the same as yours, probably coming in again after 4 months. I skipped her last heat cycle, which was 6, plus the four months its been, so 10 months so I'll be breeding her soon maybe. Like VomFelsenHof said, if you are really worried, or want the vet to ultrasound her uterous to check for anything, all you need to do is ask. I think they can check her ovaries as well, and all it takes is an ultrasound. Good luck!
