T.I.A. What do you think of this guy? He's pictured here at 14-15 months. Pardon the 'alfalfa sprout' of fur on his hip!  Wink Smile

Need to see a better side on photo. This angle makes his pasterns look really bad and does not give anyone the ability to see his shoulder and rear properly.

Is this an american show line or??  Could you post his pedigree?  Thank you.

Not an ASL.

Blitzen is right; he's not an ASL. Right now, this is the only photo I have of him stacked, so if any opinions can be offered based on this shot, lay 'em out there. Angel Smile I'll see what I can do about getting a better one.

It looks like a good stack, just bad angle. I'd also like to see better pics. What's his pedigree?

He looks younger than 14-15 months. From the picture, I woud have guessed he was less than a year old, as he still looks gangly and undeveloped. The angle of the photo is not going to change those pasterns, which look long and weak. He has a very long upper thigh, which is why people thought he might be an American show line. This could cause problems with gaiting (wobbly hocks) but impossible to tell that from a photo. Many showlines with long upper thighs gait just fine.

If this were my dog, I would exercise him to build up his muscles.

why did he get a haircut?
pasterns are a tad long, upper arm looks a tad long from this angle, torso also looks a bit long from this angle.  I agree that he could use some muscle conditioning, but given his age I wouldn't worry too much about it right now.   Overall he's a good looking dog, do need better pics to critique more effectively.
The trim on him is making me wince....

GSD male, dark black tan (maybe bi-color) of small size, good head size but too wide between ears, good high withers, long back, long chest cage, too short a loin, short and steep croup, good tail and tail set. Good hind angulation, too thin a thigh and short lower bone, good length of hocks but long in proportion to lower thigh bone, Good underline but again long. Stands straight on fore legs, short front upper arm but of very good angle, long shoulder blade that looks slightly forward set (open angle). Steep pasterns but good feet.

A good angle picture will surely make it easier to view lines and angles but I doubt it will improve his conformation.
If he were less than 12 months in that picture then he might, at the moment, be of better bone proportions both in the rear and front. In general view a nice looking boy of good color, type is far from the West German Showline I'm used to. Good luck with him.

Ibrahim
