I was wondering what you guys thought of this. Maya has developed rough elbow patches.  I know from owning my last shepherd, as she aged and became more sedate these patches became quite large. I tried vaseline, coconut oil and aloe, however, within a few minutes she was either licking it off or it became filthy and then I had to rub it off before she came in the house.
I saw an ad on TV about a Vaseline spray and go, where it is instantly absorbed and was dry to touch within minutes.
I have posted the link and wondered whether I should try it or not.
Your opinions would be helpful.

Sometimes the rough elbows are a result of licking/scratching. Make sure she doesn't have fleas, or isn't being bothered by biting insects, and they may heal up.

You can also try putting soft bedding in her favourite resting spots, which aren't always the places you WANT her to lie!

My friends were after me for allowing my 14 year old GSD to lie on the hard tiles of the kitchen floor, just inside the door. I couldn't put a rug there because it would prevent the door from opening, and she ignored the nice bed I made for her under the kitchen table.

I started gating off the kitchen at night so she would come and lie on the rug beside the bed. When I got up in the night to go to the bathroom...

there she was, .lying on the cold, hard tiles of the bathroom floor!  Roll eyes

Ya just can't win sometimes!  Teeth Smile

My dog has developed rough elbow patches these last couple of months as well.  I have found that spraying Vetericyn has helped tremendously.  A couple of sprays on each elbow right before going out for a walk a couple of times a day.  It dries on his elbows as we spend time outside, and I think it is helping his skin to heal.  I even see new hair growing back.  It's a slow process, but it is progress and the skin looks much better.  Hope it works for you too.
