"If Congress doesn't act we'll fight for a new Congress," he added. "It's that simple. But we're going to get this done."
Joe Biden.

Well, he's right about that. The loopholes need to be closed.
Still won't help the legal guns in homes that a troubled, bullied teen can get at, unfortunately. That takes a parent to realize the danger of that situation since it is legal. Tragic but legal. Would you voluntarily remove your weapons if your child was suicidal? When, or ever is the line, where it would be considered negligent?

This is PR Bee, nothing more.
These are not loop holes if you truly understood what they're talking about.
But shotgun joes remarks are typical of modern thinking, if you can't get what you want change the process until you do, no matter what anyone else thinks.
Negligent is not dealing with the situation or actually being the cause of it.
I've know some who used a firearm but more who used other methods like hanging, crashing a car, pills is a big one, one even put a plastic bag over his head.
The methods are irrelevant, it's the cause and lack of involvement that should be examined, not the tool.
You can't have my guns just because your kid are anyones kid decided to use one to end his life.
Why did the child want to end his life in the first place..................always falls on the parents.
Only from my cold dead hands.

What is most disturbing to me, is that such a large contingent of the public simply will not recognize these remarks in the proper context. Essentially, the translation then becomes, "We're not interested in the rule of law, or the will of the people. We will continue to do anything and everything we can to bring about our own agenda, legally or not. We dare you to stop us, but know this, when you try, you will immediately be labeled an obstructionist, reactionary, or simply far too simple to understand what's "best for you", ie. Rousseau's "general will". (Enlightenment ideology wherein the elite of a democratic nation are alone entrusted with defining the "greater good", only to label it will of the people) Doesn't sound much like liberty and self-sovereignty does it?

It sounds like business as usual to me.
They would grant themselves absolute power if they could, but so far they can't, so they sneak around about it hoping to slip one in by any means available to them.
You want less crime, fix poverty, and punish the criminals, not the rest of us.
Want less violence in the world....good luck.
In the meantime I'll keep my weapons and hope you change the world soon.

We didn't need another thread and this one came close enough.
Is this how you want to be served and protected?

I am not surprised at all. It's a violent world we live in and the odds are if you carry and use a gun long enough, you just might hit someone else than the one intended.
This thread better not become a cop bashing thread,
---just a gun violence thread and what we want to do about it, if anything.

Congress has been doing things "its" way for years and certainly isn't representative of the will of the people. They use "riders" to slip items, most often items that would never pass on their own and are controversial, into bills, especially important bills like appropriations and such, hoping the political fallout of stopping or delaying the vote on the big bill will cause it to pass with riders intact. Many times when someone in Congress takes the time to read the bill or thinks the rider is just wrong, they try to stop or delay the big bill and get a rain of crap from the public thanks to the media that cherry picks its news or reports what those in power want it to report (screw the facts, public doesn't need those, they will accept what they are told to accept).

Bee,
it's not about gun violence, it's about unqualified law enforcement personnel shooting weapons at unarmed people and hitting bystanders, this isn't the first time or even a rare event.
in a city run by an obsessed anti-gun fanatic.
Your right Mindhunt.
Sorry the thread's getting mixed up.

Moons,
Yes, you messed this one up blurring topics. Of course it is about gun violence. If you insist on singling out a single profession that shoots the wrong persons, how about this?
What about the incompetent farmer who sat up all night in his covered back porch with his shotgun waiting to shoot the intruder, (a raccoon) of his property. Well, the damn incompetent fell asleep and shot himself. Time to take old fart's guns away... seems they have a problem with them and keep injuring themselves or provoking a situation where they end up dead. Yeah, that 107 year old guy I am talking about, too.
There are way more people in every profession and all ages, apparently, who are incompetent with the guns they own; you are singling out LEO's. Stop picking on them, please. Pick on everyone, equally, if you must bring out this dead horse to beat, instead.
