So the driver didn't know the AC failed in the dog trailer?

This is tragic. I just do not understand why these dogs were not checked on every hour. This is the same company that is on Alpha Dogs. It makes me sick

I do not believe they were transported in a dog trailer. I believe it was a box truck

It doesn't take long for a dog to overheat in a closed in area. It could have taken less than 40 minutes. The AC could have quit between pit/gas stops. I am hoping this was a tragic accident and not negligence. I am guessing their transport SOPs will be changed, a dash mounted temp readout or video cam or something to indicate the environment the dogs are traveling in would be a good idea. I personally prefer being able to actually see my dogs when we are traveling.

Someone moving home in the UK managed to cook several large-breed
showdogs (not Shepherds) in a similar manner, a couple of decades
ago. If anything 'good' comes out of these events, it seems to be that
they are so dreadful they stay in peoples' memories and a bit of caution
is taken, so that they happen, on this scale, only very rarely. Cold comfort,
I know.
As these GSDs were working dogs, tools, I wonder just how badly this will
affect their owner (or not ?). I always felt a bit of sympathy for the UK breeder;
not sure I do for this supposedly 'professional' company ?
Pity this sort of major event does not seem to stop private individuals leaving
their one or two dogs in cars or on the backs of unsheltered trucks for hours on
hot days. We have had this yet again at one of our premier Dog Shows this
summer.
