It seems that there are quite a few posts of hip x-rays on young dogs that look perfectly fine for their age yet the owners get a recommendation from their vet to have surgery. Maybe it's time for owners that had that happen to them to post the info of those vets so people can avoid them. It does not have to be slanderous, a picture of the x-ray along with the vets recommendation and their info and everyone can draw their own conclusions. Since most dogs that have this happen to them are young I am assuming that they are suggesting triple pelvic osteotomy on them. One of the most invasive and hard surgeries to recover from for no reason. I think that it's time for these vets to be exposed. |

Maybe what is needed it a push on EDUCATING owners and a list of vets that do a good job with radiographs.

I agree that educating is the most important aspect of this. I posted some references to your other thread for great vets who do this right in the Kansas, KC area.
