How old does a pup need to be to go outside to a park, in the street, or around other dogs?  I ask because I am getting my dog at 9 weeks old and I live in the city.  The place I will need to take the dog to use the bathroom is at the park at the entrance to my building.  The pup will have all his up to date shots when he arrives and I am going to consult a vet here where I live to follow up and do any remaining shots needed.  Any input for a GSD newbie?!

Follow your vet's protocol because none of us know what diseases are active in your area. I generally keep pups away from public canine areas until they have had all their boosters or my vet give the ok.
Parvo and Distemper is not worth the risk. If you can find a grassy area away from the park and make sure to clean up after your pup. Try to find other slightly older dogs who are already vaccinated to socialize your pup with. And keep your distance from strays.
Good luck and have fun.

Here is a good link about dog parks. There are two sides to every story, so you have to be the judge. This, however, may open your eyes a bit.
