I saw on Facebook that the dog in this picture passed away Wednesday, at the age of 20. I'm sure many of you recall this picture, showing his owner floating him in Lake Superior to help his arthritis. Thoughts and prayers go out to John... I wish every dog had an owner like him!

Yeah, they were STILL opening cards and gifts that fans had sent from around the world for Schoep's 20th birthday, and the old boy was still getting around under his own steam [albeit rather slowly] right up until that last day or two. I'm sad he's gone, but comforted in the knowledge that Schoep didn't have to endure a long, drawn-out disease-induced death. He simply wore out all the parts in that body.

Schoep was loved so, you can tell by the way he gazes at his owner. He lived on, & passed on, in a state of pure love. What more could anyone possibly hope for? If only we all could be so good to our dogs, families, friends, or anyone, to inspire such an expression of rapt devotion! Our world would be a sweet place.... jackie harris

SS, I'm thinking the 'dislike' is for Schoep having passed, not for Dawulf's post itself.
