I took my dog in to get his hips and elbows done. I have seen xrays from OFA on the hips on here so was suprised when my vet had one of the xrays correct but also had a "splay frog position" shot as well and said he was sending that one in as well with the other shot. Has anyone seen this done or is this normal??

So, does anyone know if it is normal to send both views or not to the OFA????

OFA = 1 view ..(generally the best, clearest, straightest view)
PennHip = 3 views
Are you sure your vet didn't send to both PennHip and OFA??
Do you have a picture of your xray you can post??

I do not(he is digital) but will try to get one. I only did OFA. I am the customer and told him to send only the one which was correct in positioning. Hate to be pushy but.....

Your vet can save the digital images to a CD for you to take home and upload to here or send via emails to people.
I would guess that the more views/images you send in, the more feedback you would get.
If your goal is to get an OFA rating that passes, send in the most correct, straight clear image, that is closest to what the rest of the country is sending in.
If your goal is to get feedback (for example, breeding/working) on the hip shape/laxity/etc, then take as many views as you have to specialists/radiologists and discuss the good and bad points of the xrays/joints and how it might relate to genetics/injury, and performance of the dog.
