I am a member of several dog communities on Orkut.com. Visiting one of these communities I found the following link http://www.all-creatures.org/anex/dog.html and I guess people need to work to stop this cruelty. Its gruesome. Please check it out.

Ok, the pictures are gross, this is true.. but don't use them as propaganda for the Vegan movement... We don't eat dogs here in the USA ....

I didnt even dream such thing existed! The photos started showing the dogs been sold as meat, a hard thing to see by our society, but as a diferent society they have their own culture and needs (food). Then, there were new pictures from the ocident (USA), the dogs were killed or left suffering until die. It brings up an analise of what animal are we? An animal that just dont care about the other animals? Or an animal that just dont even think about other in general? because we could bring here some pictures of children suffering with the indiference, some die at the streets, and other are killed by soldiers at wars, none of those pictures we can see at the newspaper! All they try to show are the victorys (for nothing? For oil?For power?). The man is an dangerous animal even for ourselves, imaging what can be done eith those creatures that some think are inferior(a property) almost an object! I dont agree whith that! We must send those pictures everywhere we can, maybe it starts to change! STOP CRUELTY WHITH ALL GODS CREATURE!

Though I personally find it abhorent, the fact is that dogs have been raised for hundreds of years, just like other species, for humans to eat. They are still considered food in several countries and among some cultures of the world. And one can look everywhere, including in the USA for example after example of mans' inhumaity to others, including humans. For example, in this week, more people were murdered in New Orleans than the U.S. military lost in Iraq. In fact, the situation is so bad in New Orleans that a curfew is being considered. Unbelievable....We still have done so little to help the people there and the criminal elements are having a field day right here in a major American city.

I agree that such photographs are disgusting, as they deal with our best friend. I realize that different cultures view things very differently, but it does not make it much easier to take. That is a personal prejudice on my part, and for that I must take the blame. Personally, I do not eat meat of any type, but that is a personal decision based on the health history of my ancestors and is by no means driven by any moral reasons, religious doctrine or philosophical sentimentality. I see nothing wrong with eating meat if one wishes to do so, as that is a personal decision. But, if we think that the killing of dogs for food and/or pelts is inhumane (and yes, I am trying to place my prejudice aside for a moment-it's hard) then we must assume that it is inhumane for all animals. And I realize that most of us do not have a pet chicken, cow, goat, or pig; never had and never will. As far as those who consider the eating of meat to be morally wrong, then that should be their personal decision. The times that I have an issue with this and similar subjects is when certain groups of people decide they have achieved a moral higher ground and try to force their ideology upon the rest of us. Hence, while I believe that al animals have certain rights, I tend to keep the extremist (in my opinion) groups at a long arm's length and provide them no support. Bob-O
