Yes it is on 20/20 Special Edition right now. OK I realize I am probably going to take a lot of flack for my honest thoughts----------it is so sad a young man lost his life and my heart s broken for his parents...............but before we take sides and judge Zimmerman--really we don't know what happened and there are conflicting stories...........for you who believe he should've got fried or a least found guilty be comforted in knowing he has joined the ranks of Casey Anthony in being a very hated person............maybe he will even be named the most hated man in America..........He and only he knows what really happened and if he did murder Travon --then believe me Karma will bite him in the ass big time........JMO and 2 cents.........

Carlin

I can see the incident having gone either way, and I really am not persuaded either way.  I will say, that long before this case, I developed the opinion that I would rather see a guilty person get away with a crime than an innocent one convicted and sentenced erroneously.

Only in FL.....the jury had to return a not guilty verdict. The prosecution team failed to prove their case. I too believe in Karma, so if Zimmerman did commit the perfect crime, he will pay in some other way. I don't think it's over just yet. In the big picture, Carlin is spot on.

If, the big if, Zimmerman had done as told by 911; "we don't need you to do that.." had stopped his pursuit of the child, then Zimmerman would not have been in a situation to commit to pulling the gun and then putting a bullet through Travon, killing him.
He is at fault, one hundred percent. He pursued and killed the very person he was supposedly there to protect, as Travon had the right to be where he was. The actions of Zimmerman put me in mind of current homeland security...targeting and frisking the citizens of this country, the very people the gov is supposedly protecting. I think the jury would have come to a different conclusion if the gov and military were not doing the same thing Zimmerman did....unfortunately, times and ethics of this society have taken a downward turn.

Joanro, he was an adolescent not a child.  Yes it is a terrible thing that a person died and having a son, I feel for the Martin family, I don't even want to imagine what they are going through.  The prosecution did not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. In both Tracey Anthony and George Zimmerman, I feel the prosecution gave into emotion and not gathered evidence when it came to deciding what to charge.  I agree with Carlin, I would rather see a guilty person go free than an innocent one go to prison and yes I have been the victim of violent crime where my perpetrator went free due to plea bargaining 7 felonies into 2 misdemeanors.  The almost guaranteed fact is that a truly guilty person WILL commit a crime again.

I agree with Joanro, it does not matter that he was a kid or not. He has every right to walk where he was. Still a free country of sorts without some punk that thinks he had the right to lord over someone else. If Zimmerman had of stayed in his car and minded his own business the boy would still be alive. My thought about Florida is would they have let Travon off if he would have shot and killed Zimmerman in fear of his life by someone following him and pursuing him on foot. It was real clear that Zimmerman was the aggressor.

Why only six jurors?
Why only women?

Just curious.

Is an ass whoopin justification for the use of deadly force?
No.

Zimmerman crossed a line and created this event armed with a weapon, he broke the first law himself by confronting Martin.
He had neither the right or the authority.

No matter what, this was not a justifiable homicide.

Florida's stand your ground law is in my opinion too vague.

Ok, not a child, but I would still call him a kid and depending upon behavior, I would not hesitate to call a 17 Yr old a child. The fact remains, 911 advised Zimmerman to stand down and not follow the MINOR. Travon was visiting FAMILY there at that neighborhood, he had a right to be there, was NOT trespassing. Zimmerman probably did not expect to be challenged, or, since he had a gun, felt he could play hero and save the neighborhood from an unarmed, innocent minor. In my opinion, he got away with murder and six wimmen are not his peers.
