I consider this to be a bi-color and that is what I plan on putting on the registration slip....anyone see him developing into a black/tan. I haven't had many black/tan pups. He had tan at the vent when whelped, but there is none now. The color in his legs is "roan" (for lack of a better term) on the outside....inside the color is more solid. Color only goes to the knees and hocks. No color on the face and the pictures show the color in the ears. So is he and will he stay a bi-color?
Thanks Jill

Bi-Color or Black, Can't see it going B/T

How is that puppy going to turn black???
Bicolor, for AKC registration. Unless he has even a hint of tan behind his ears. He actually has quite a lot of tan inside his ears for as dark as the rest of him is.

He's a bi-color, and will stay so

I agree that he is a bi-color and will stay that way. I really don't see him turning black/tan. I don't think that he's a black with bleed through coloring, either. He has too much coloring inside the ears for him to be a black.

But they don't ever start out with tan under their tails if they're genetically black, or in their ears, and if they do get bleed-through later in life, it's only on their legs and it's not during early puppyhood, ime.

Nice explanations on "Bleed through".
