4 year old purebred long-hair GSD needs loving family (Lockport, IL)

We are sad to say we need to find a new home for our 4 year old female German Shepherd. She is a loving, sweet, great family pet. We are looking for a new home because she doesn't seem to do well when we are gone and we travel quite a bit. She needs someone who is primarily home or gone for only a few days at a time or takes her with them. She has beginning training in Shutzhund bite work, and has the drive of the German bloodlines if someone wanted to continue the sport. If not, she will need a LOT of exercise playing ball and going for walks. She does best with kids ages 3+ simply because she is an energetic dog and doesn't realize her size, so our little one year old gets knocked down from time to time. She would never hurt anyone and is not aggressive. She doesn't care for little dogs, has never been around cats or other animals but does have a prey drive so probably not a great idea. Crate trained and obedient! Walks great on leash. She is used to an invisible fence so needs the same or fenced in yard. Grooming is necessary and she sheds quite a lot, but is such a beautiful dog! Protective of family and friendly to others you see fit. Up to date on shots and health check ups. We would like a small rehoming fee which would include her 'supplies' : 2 large plastic kennels, food, bowls, bloodline paperwork, food and toys.

believe dogs in our modern culture just get regarded as
objects, to be bought when owners fancy it - and moved on
when they realize their lifestyle isn't really suitable.
People who buy a dog without considering all its needs
are not much better than those who just 'dump' theirs in a
shelter, even when they post oh-so-caring ads like this one.
Where are their questions about who might offer to take her ?
Got an electric fence and some money ? Here ya go !
Have they not discovered there are specialist GSD Rescues
they could work with ? Na, Craigslist reaches lots of people.
JMHO - ok, rant over ...

I used an underground fence for my first 2 GSD's because there was a 4 foot limit to the height of fences in the development where we lived.

dogs & bitches like crazy? Buying, breeding-breeding-breeding-breeding then
liquidating? Different studs and bitches almost every 6 months. Many frequent
posters/'breeders' here go through dogs very often and no issue is made of it,
how come? It's ok for them to use dogs up and fill their pockets then dump the
dogs, moving on to the next big thing?
Before you go tarring and feathering this particular owner, maybe try to
contact them and find out the details?

advertised on CL? Some of you so quick to cast such lowly opinions might be surprised
how many of your highly touted 'breeders' have advertised on that same medium,
or other similar 'freebie' sites

I do very much hope this dog does find someone that is not interested in only reselling her and or stashing her in a fenced yard until they too find her a home and pass her around more. I hope the dream family comes through for her.
I fully agree with your post Dogz
